I was accepted to what I thought would be my only option, so after waiting a while I emailed to confirm my intent to matriculate. Almost immediately after, I was accepted elsewhere and decided to send in my deposit and confirm my acceptance to school 2.

So, now i have to re-email school 1 and tell them I do not intend to matriculate (thankfully I havent sent in my deposit yet). What is the best way to word this email, and should I provide a reason for why I am not attending?

they usually dont ask why you're not attending. just word it professionally and you should be fine.
