Has anyone gotten a secondary application or interview from Howard University yet? I sent in my primary in mid-July and I still haven't recieved their secondary. I know that the school has a reputation for being disorganized, but c'mon! I even called the school 1 month ago to get the secondary and they said I'd definitely get it by the end of September.

Keep calling them. I applied to Howard last year and got a rejection 4 months after the class started...that tells you how disorganized the school is.

Ijust dropped in to check a PM from Heal&Teach..Anyhow, I received a secondary from Howard on 10/14/04 and submitted it the very next day. My AMCAS application was submitted on 09/02 and verified on 09/14.

Their secondary states that they do not usually send out rejection letters until very late in the application process (I think it's after April, but I don't have the paper to verify that exactly)..

Howard's going through this process at a snail's pace...I suggest calling their admissions office to see whether or not they've sent a secondary out to you..

I posted something like this a month or more ago; several folks responded in what turned out to be very informative...maybe a search will help (although that advice never seems to work...)

I received a secondary on 8/2/04 - THE SAME DAY (in a different envelope) - I got a letter asking me to schedule an interview. I called the school to ask if that was for real and they said yes. So sometime in mid September they verified a date with me, and that was that. I could not get a response from them for any inquiries...

I actually just pulled my file from them about 2 weeks or so ago...I cancelled my interview and alluded to my concerns with the first impression that was conveyed, for what it's worth.

In any event, rogue secondaries are out and there was at least one interview scheduled - mine - on Oct. 12. So they are doing something...

I called them today. My AMCAS application was processed on Sep 01 and they said they sent me secondary on Sep 07 !! But I never got it. So they will send me one today.

Well let's see how much I have to wait more.

I received a secondary and an interview invite late July. I interviewed late September. I didn't have the best impression of the school because of their seeming disorganization. Even the students that I spoke to there cautioned the interviewees about it. Anyway, we were told that if we don't hear from the school with a decision within two months to call and REMIND them. Everyone seems to be aware the Howard isn't the most efficient place in terms of the admissions office so if in doubt about any aspect of your applications definately call them. I would also like to add that dispite the issues with disorganization the students that I spoke to were very friendly and informative and seemed to love the school.

I dropped my secondary to them back in Sep. Received the little post cards telling me that everything arrived, but haven't heard anything since. My girlfriend graduated from Howard about 9 years ago. She got her interview sometime in May and was accepted about three weeks before class started! She is a radiologist now.

returned = early september
sent LORs = late september

recv'd my schools return postcard saying LORs recv'd. get this.
they use an electronic code so you can't tell who signed for it
or the date it was signed for. 🙁

I received the secondary for Howard today... My primary cleared in early September. The letter inside was dated October 7th. They give you 30 days to complete the secondary application. Lucky thing this was the shortest secondary ever.

I called the office today and explained to the lady that all of my writers had already mailed out LOR's and that I would just go ahead and mail the "green cards" in myself (not attached to the LOR's). She agreed that this would be okay but I have a feeling she is not going to remember this. Did anyone fill out those "green cards" for the LOR's and just mail them in to the school? And what is up with the certified check!

I now wish, I had spent my $50 on another school. 🙁

I called and they told me that it should be in the mail. My AMCAS was completed in July....nothing yet from Howard....

send them the scores via snail mail. also, if you did not self
address and include stamp on blue return card w/ secondary,

Just make a photocopy of the MCAT scores? That sounds like trouble seeing as how you can easily change the forms with a little photoshop editing.

I have to agree. Sending them the info via snail mail seems a little strange. How would that help if AMCAS is sending the scores electronically and throught the mail? (another school I applied to told me this is how they receive the scores). I received my secondary from Howard in Sept. and my LORs were sent by the first of Oct. I took the Aug MCAT so they "should" have my scores now and my packet should be complete. Now I'm waiting to hear something too. P.S. I applied the first of June. Let's hope we all hear something soon.

i asked if she wanted verification code...she said NO. she specifically
stated send scores through snail mail. i dont make the rules, just relay them.

she said otherwise they'd have to wait for AMCAS and if you take AMCAS
waiting + Howard waiting then it equals eternity.

Thanks. That's very cute 🙂 I guess it wouldn't hurt, but it still seems odd. However, after attending a HBCU for undergrad, I am all too aware of the propensity toward "slowness" in certain ares (enough said). I guess I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt 😉.

I sent them my AMCAS app + LORs early october. I just received their secondary yesterday (after emailing them 3 times and calling them 2 times). I'm wondering the same thing about the green card, since I sent in my LORs like 2 months ago! I don't wanna go back to my undergrad school (I don't even live in the same state anymore!) and give them the f*ckin' green card so that they can attach it to my LORs and send everything to Howard again... On the other hand, I'm afarid I will never be complete there if I don't do that... They might get confused or something, and that would slow them down even more!

Honestly, at this point, I'm wondering if it's even worth it... I think I may send in my 50 bucks and never hear from them again. They failed to send me a rejection letter last year! But, when I called them over the summer, they had the nerves to tell me that they sent me an interview invite and that I never got back to them... so, they dropped my app. Yeah, right! 😡

after 4 calls and 1 e-mail. maybe i should step it up with the e-mails.
i'm really at the point of not caring with them 🙄
