Does this mean they’re done interviewing for the cycle?

Unfortunately I wasn’t told whether or not they were since my question was geared toward waitlist movement

I called admissions. She was really nice about answering my question. I was told the waitlist is ranked and still active and will be until the incoming class is filled up until orientation or the list is deactivated, which those on it will receive notification once it is. She said things are slow and updates and other forms of communication will not impact ranking or anything else since your app has already been reviewed, so it’s just a matter of spots becoming available for the next person on the list. I’m sure they’ve been knee deep in incoming calls/mail in their inbox. Keep positive thoughts 🫶🏽

I called a number that was provided during second look. I’d prefer not to post it and have her receiving an influx of calls or messages. There are other contacts listed on the admissions website that may be helpful if you try to reach them.

I wish since they are one of the few schools that don’t take FAP.

June 12th is this Thursday, and I believe that following this date, we will see significant changes that will reveal the acceptance percentage for the waitlist, yielding the most movement or not. After this, there may still be a few random acceptances, but they are likely to be minimal. I'm not sure if the waitlist process was similar in previous years, but the extensions and longer wait periods are truly frustrating, especially with the tentative start day less than a month away, July 9th, from June 12th.

WOW! This leads me to believe that the percentage of applicants coming off the waitlist has decreased compared to previous years. It's time to follow up on my letters of recommendation for the next cycle.

It seems like it’s decreased dramatically. I wonder what might’ve changed this cycle compared to last. I hope admissions use this cycle to be a lot more careful with the information the share for the next cycle so they don’t give applicants a false sense of security.

I was also told the group me is at 96 now so I’m not sure if the rest of the class hasn’t joined the group me or hasn’t committed. I guess we shall see after June 12th!

the thing is the "wave" of accpetances from waitlists has most likely already happened. Most people got off in may, this was the case for the previous years too. We stillhave hope for about 5-7 more spots just based off of SDN

She said going forward, the wl is moving very slow. I took that as there may be a few more but its pretty much done. That is all I needed to hear. Yeah I just got an email at 1:56 AM which was a Pre II rejection saying

“Dear (my name),

Thank you for considering Howard University College of Medicine. The Admissions Committee found your application to be highly competitive, however regrets to inform you that we are no longer extending interview dates for admission to the 2025 entering class.


We hope that you have been accepted to one of the other medical schools to which you applied.”

I thought it was AI at first cuz of the grammatical errors and poorly formed sentences but it’s human written lol. I got into a MD school in my state which was cheaper so I’m not too bummed, I kinda got the idea back in February when I was interviewing for the other school 😭😭. I wish you guys all the best I hope you hear good news from the programs you applied to!
