I am working on my list for schools I am applying to. A lot of information on UNECOM is pretty old and I think at the time they were going through some very rough transitional times with both professors, deans etc, but also with their curriculum. I think this put a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths, as it should if you are tossing up the dough to go there. From looking back through stuff on SDN it seemed like a lot of people were negative towards the school from like 2007-2011 ish.

But I was curious how the school is regarded as of last year/this year, and if anyone could comment how it is looking for the future? Cost wise, it seems a lot of schools are getting pretty expensive, so comparatively it doesnt seem like its as terribly priced as it has been in the past? I know for sure there are a few schools on my list that beat the price (both tuition and living) easily... CCOM comes to mind.

And it seems that they have settled on their rotations stuff? 3rd year they take care of you, 4th year you set up yourself? Seems decent enough...?

Any comments from anyone on any of this? Money is tight so I want a strong list of schools I feel really good about. I worked in Maine and loved it, its a pretty place to live so it is for sure on my list of possible places to go to school.... so long as the school is decent heh... Thanks a bunch

I interviewed last month at UNECOM and was recently accepted and I am definitely considering the school. We got to talk to current students quite a bit which was nice and like you said 3rd year rotations are given to you (lottery system) and 4th year you set up but apparently this is not necessarily a bad thing because you can pick where you want to go and it's not very difficult to do. The students I talked to did say that they increased the class size last year and did not have enough room to accommodate the extra students (no lecture hall is big enough) but they built an extra classroom and should? be fine now to handle extra students.

There were issues with the curriculum changes and not enough time to study for boards but I think the administration is now listening to students more. The students I talked to were very happy with their choice to attend school at UNECOM and thought the administration does a really good job of picking students who get along well. The anatomy labs are supposed to be one of the best in the nation. I would definitely apply- they gave us a paper with past residency matches and they are at pretty good hospitals. The campus is also beautiful! and located on the undergrad campus which gives it more of a campus feel.
