I've been working as a Tech for almost three months. It's interesting to see the difference of different Pharmacists. Each of them has their own perferences. I'm also surprised that some Techs who came 3 months earlier than me are still slow at filling and input. Now I can handle most of the works. I think the most tuff place is drop off window. Because there is usually one of us and we are supposed to answer all the phones and sending faxes besides drop off and input. I can manage there only if the customers are not coming all the time. However, most of the time they just keep coming. Only our senior Tech can handle that situation.
So far I like to work in the Pharmacy. The only thing I don't feel comfortable is some of the the sudefaed sale. You can tell who really need them who are not. 🙁
School will start soon and I'm looking forward to work as an intern.
I also wants to know how's life working in hospital. 🙂

Well, the pseudoephedrine issue applies to any addictive substance. You're going to have lots of stories to tell as your career goes forward. So, you're going to have to get used to that. As long as you're obeying the law, then there's no reason to feel uncomfortable.

As far as the hospital is concerned, eh... too early in the morning for my tastes.

It'll be more interesting when you work as an intern. You have more responsibilities, but it's more fun, IMO.

Every pharmacist is very different. I found that out when I started working. Also, every tech and intern is going to be very different.

The important thing to remember is that you don't have to take on more than you can handle if you aren't ready for that yet, and need some practice.

Sometimes I forget that my coworkers are in the pharmacy with me, and I'll try to do everything by myself and feel too busy. You can let another tech or the pharmacist help you, so that it can ease some stress from having too many customers come up to the pharmacy.

Just remember that it's not your job to decide whether someone needs Sudafed or not. It's your job to figure out if they've bought more than the allowance the government sets per day and month.

Note: this is specifically for Sudafed. Just yesterday we refused to fill for two patients who were doctor shopping for narcs (and alerted the docs, too, who were very happy to cancel the scripts).

For the sudafed issues, you do not have to worry as long as you make sure they do not go over the limit of what they can buy in one day or one transaction. A good computer systerm should be able to do that for you. Of course if they come with a script, the law does not limit them ... Good luck

Sometimes ppl bring banded or damaged ID. I said no to them, they always ask for management. I know our manage will not approve those since I asked her different situation before. But sometimes the other pharmacist will prove it.
We've seen so many ppl with multiple IDs. It gets to a point that we know who is coming very often.
Anyway. I'm much better than before on this already.
This morning our city is reported as "the captial of sudafed" of our state. 🙁

Lol, you live/work in Tulsa. I'm not sure where your from, but Tulsa is a Sudafed/syringe hotbed. I've become numb to it almost. I'm so happy to not be in retail anymore.

Bingo!
Are we the number one in the whole nation?
Where are you now? Hospital will be sudafed free then?
😕

What is IMO?
Thanks for the advise. You are very nice! 😀
