I have an interview with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy on September 15.

Don't stress yourself over the interview, it certainly requires the least amount of preparation. Re-read interview feedback or anything they sent you regarding the style of interview, but the biggest thing to an interview is something you can't practice - a clear-minded, articulate confidence. If you create a positive, friendly atmosphere while not getting rattled by nerves i'm certain you'll do fine.

*Edit: One thing that may fluster you is if you prepare all these indepth answers to questions that they don't ask you, and ask you things out of the blue. Thats where over-preparation may hurt you, some people panic if they don't have a pre-thought out answer in place. That is why it's so important to maintain a clear head.

Congrats to both of you. The best thing is to RELAX and be yourselves. You don't have to recite scripted answers; in fact, most seasoned interviewers can see through them. Answer questions honestly and take a moment to think about the questions if you need to. Also ask your interviewers questions as well. DO review the school's website to find reasons why you chose to apply there and pick out something unique about the program. 🙂

But seriously, I am way excited for you! I'm sure you feel on top of the world now, but just imagine how good you'll feel when you get that acceptance letter from UK!!

I'm starting to get a bit antsy myself, since I only need 2 LORs until my application is complete!! I hope I get an interview this semester, since they won't need to wait on my PCAT scores or anything...I wish UNC did ED too because I'm incredibly impatient!

..but for now I have plenty of hw to keep my mind off of it. 😱

Not entirely true -- I know of a few people that interviewed in November and found out around the Saturday exams ended (of fall semester) that they'd been accepted. (Although there were a few from this bunch that didn't find out till later). Seems to me that it's entirely arbitrary.

The main reason I hope that I find out sooner is that the chem frat has a major function the first weekend that we come back from winter break, and because of my job in the frat, I'm committed to being there all day. If I remember correctly, that's also when they held their first interviews in the spring semester. I think if I had to wait much beyond that for an interview, I'd really start to worry.

The bottom line: I'm not holding out for it, but I can be optimistic. 🙄

I think it went OK.

There were three sections. First up, it was me interviewing with a pharmacist and one faculty member. They were nice, but I felt like they wondered if I have had enough experience/exposure to pharmacy.

Second was the social interview with two senior pharmacy students and the director of student services. This was the easiest part. There were five of us in the group and we were asked about our extracurriculars, leadership positions and why we like pharmacy.

Third was the group interview. Same five of us with a professor, two pharmacists and a senior student. One guy constantly made wierd faces while we took turns answering questions. It was unnerving.

There were no really difficult questions asked, in my opinion. Nothing about current issues in pharmacy, future of the profession, etc. Lots of questions about us personally and how we spend our time outside of school.

I don't feel bad about it and I don't feel great about it either. Maybe after I have had more time to process I'll feel more strongly one way or the other. Everyone was really nice and it was very low stress.

They told us that they would try to notify us by email by Oct 7. If they don't get it done before the 7th, it will be the last week of October because the Dean is going on vacation.

So, we'll see!
