So, tonight's Hawai'i 5-O - the story takes them to a strip bar: the Club Femme Nu (but, to be grammatically correct, it should be Femme Nue, but, oh well). It's on Kapi'olani.

I've been there. It is a DIVE. It is dirty, and a real dump. They actually filmed inside the club. What you didn't see is that all the servers at Femme Nu are guys. Club 939, now, that is MUCH better.

I only went there (Femme Nu) once.

Male servers at a strip club?! You can have 'em. I'm just jealous that you live in Hawaii and only work 10 shifts a month.

Their rationale is that, if the servers were women, the patrons (exclusively male at Femme Nu - at least when I was there, no male/female or female only patrons) would look at them instead of the dancers. They also seemed unaccustomed to getting tips. In Canada, the servers are all women, and many used to be dancers (and they are happy to not be peeling anymore), and that doesn't detract from the dancers on stage. Interestingly, in South Carolina, I met one dancer that used to be a server. She was a bit rough when she was new.

At Club 939, there's one guy server, but the rest are women. They're not bad, but not much to look at (they don't compete with the meat that is stripping there).

The only minus about working here is we get paid diddly. I'm looking to work on other islands for more $$.

At one time, it was an awesome club. Oh well. One of the dancers was my high school classmate.

You'd be surprised how financially savvy these ladies are. They have investment portfolios, deduct the cost of cosmetic surgery as a business expense, and generally retire in 5-10 years, depending on gravity, and start their own businesses.

I met one who was a part-time Finance instructor at a uni in neighbouring state.

I went out twice with a dancer who is a piano teacher, but wasn't making enough teaching. She turned out to be weird, weird, weird, though (and, coming from me, that's something) - she said she "saw" music and auras, and she was different from other people due to her spiritual nature. Even though we had some intellectual conversation, I wasn't going to chase her.

Temporal lobe epilepsy?

Maybe she was autistic or had perfect pitch. Or both.

Not autistic - just weird. Scholarship piano educated - but, when I asked her about performance versus teaching, that was, like, a BIG thing that she differentiated. Yes on perfect pitch. Also a vegan, but not like the white filthy earthy vegans - hers is dietary dating from when she was an infant.

I just don't want to give too much detail to keep her privacy. Even if I mentioned a few points, she'd be easily discoverable.

Whey are their so many strip club connoisseurs on the EM forum?

This part isn't really that strange for a professionally trained performer. I can "see" music as well. Just listening to a piece I can put it together in my head and visualize the score. The reverse is true as well, I can look at a score and having never heard a piece have a good idea of what it will/should sound like. These are skills that can be taught, and I (unfortunately) do not have perfect pitch.

IME, the servers are often better looking than the dancers (all female)
