Who is the IDIOT responsible for the convention used for cross sections in the the brainstem. After having had a chance to go over CTs, MRIS, and cross sections of the cerebral cortex, it was very straight forward. All you had to remember was to imagine looking up from the patients feet with his toes in the air from the bedside.
For the brainstem cross sections, it is like looking up from the patients feet with the patient lying stomach down. Anterior structures (basis peduncli) are at the bottom of the page, and the posterior structures are at the top of the page (superior colliculus). It would be much easier to follow the edinger wesphal nucleus and its tract or the corticalpontine tract from its origin if the cerebral and brain stem cross sections had one standard.
I feel like beating someone up right now.
