If I get into Harvard, I promise to donate...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If I get in to Harvard I promise to do a thread with the title, "HAAAAAAAAAVAAAD."

I'm going to donate to SDN $200 no matter where I get accepted.

Only reason I won't apply to HMS is because of their refusal to accept calc 1 + stat for their math pre-requisites. It's calc 1 & 2 or bust at HMS.

hehehe...I was pulling your leg...

Of course I took Calc 1 and Calc 2. In fact, I took Calc 3 to make sure they were happy.

Most people... I don't plan to apply anywhere on the east coast (CA+FL+NV+AZ+OR+SC+GA). Mostly DO schools likely.
I cannot stand the thought of another New England type winter ever again in my life. I would NOT attend Harvard if they were begging me to attend. It's too f'ing cold.

YES! Who doesn't? 😱

Are you serious? I would we willing to have an icicle up my ass for the next 4 years just to attend Harvard. Make that a huge pointy icicle.

You're ahead of the game then . What's the highest calc class anyway?

Calc 3 is the last calc class before advanced calc.

If I did AP Calculus BC (Calc 1 and 2) and got a 5 for credit, and then did Calc 3 at a community college and got it transferred, will they count that as 2 semesters?

Dead serious. One of the huge draws for me to a lot of D.O. schools are they are in towns I actually would want to live in.

I'm a former MA resident and lived there for almost 10 yrs (my parents actually own a home a few blocks from HMS).

I detest cold weather. But, to each his own. No icicles for me. Instead, hot women, cool breeze and a few mojitos... yes, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine I would consider you over Harvard in a heartbeat.

you guys are hilarious. don't believe the hype, most med schools are the same. HMS was actually the cheapest option for me. That and location stopped me from going to Mayo. You will be happy wherever you end up.

that being said, it's a cool place nonetheless. get to go to a bar by the garden to watch the game with other crazy fans

Actually you didn't have to take Calc 3. AP Calculus BC is sufficient. (At least for Harvard; I'm sure other med schools are similar).

Oh ok thanks. I took Calc 3 cause I got 5 credits for 200 bucks :meanie:

Actually, most pre-meds I know (IRL), including myself.

I didn't apply because

1. I wouldn't have a shot in hell.

2. I don't want to live in the area.

sooo yeah, most people don't apply. schools like GW and Drexel get TONS more applications than Harvard.

Where are all these cc's? People always say on here how they took X amount of credits for X amount of dollars. At my cc 15 credits is $1300 dollars. Don't get me wrong, it is still half of what the state school is, but it ain't as cheep as people on here keep citing.

CCs in CA are way cheaper. $200 should suffice for a 5 credit course.

MD CCs are ~100$/credit.

If I get into Havad I promise to reject them and post it on here ...

Remember, pics or it didn't happen.

What? you won't take my word? That's just rude.

Well, I can't really apply again since I'm already in med school, but I can guarantee you that I won't be applying to any of the Havad hospitals for residency.

If I took only Calc II in college but didn't take the AP exam for calc AB, does that mean I'm basically forced to take Calc III if I want to apply to Harvard?

Chemdude as a kid...

That's it? $200 is an insult. :meanie:

If I get into the University of Michigan I will literally die of happiness. It's a conundrum 😀

I took AP Calc BC and got a 5, but when AP credits were reported on AMCAS, it just said:

Course___________________Hours____Grade
AP Calculus and Statistics___7_________G

How will any school, not just Harvard know what this means anyways?

You aren't the first person to report AP credit. They will know.

What's so great about Harvard? Unless you're going into research/academic medicine, I don't see why it's so many peoples "greatest dream." Personally, I would be trade the US winning the world cup to getting in to harvard if I could. I have heard people say that getting into Harvard med would be the highlight and best moment of their life. Sure, theres tons of prestige, but US MD anywhere confers the same career opportunities for private practice and, ultimately income, which is what is tangible and matters. Don't get me wrong...not trashing harvard in the least. I would go there instantly if accepted, I just don't see how its worth dying for or giving up something huge in one's life to get in, as some people (not necessarily in this thread) suggest. I wouldn't be that much more elated to get into harvard, than, say, SUNY Buffalo. Do other people feel similar to this sentiment, or the complete opposite?
