Will programs rank applicants solely based on interview performances or will they still review your application packet?

The answer is both.

[Mr. Green]

We mainly wipe the slate clean. The purpose of the GPA, CV, and LOI is to get you an interview.

What does it mean to wipe the slate clean? Like after the interview or after they send an interview invitation?

After the on-site invitation. Pretty much the program's rank list of candidates is solely based on how the candidates performed at the interviews, and nothing like your CV, GPA, references, etc. are taken into consideration.

Your application means you’re qualified, your interview solidifies you’re a good fit.
