Anyone apply to these programs? How would u rank them from 1-5? Are they DO friendly
Case Western Reserve University (MetroHealth) Program
St Vincent Charity Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University Program
CCF
Fairview Hospital Program
Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Case Medical Center Program
There are 2 other programs but...aoa accredited
In terms of quality, instatewaiter has it right. However, consider the following:
- The UH mothership program, while stellar, is very DO unfriendly (I couldn't get an interview with very good stats, and other DOs I know with even better stats were also snubbed).
- Metro matches lots of DOs, but it's kind of a sketchy/malignant program - it's fired residents recently, and the rumors I've heard about the working environment are not good at all.
- St Vincent and Fairview are FMG sweatshops.
- Don't even consider the AOA programs, which are at tiny hospitals...the training would be a joke.
Your best bet is CCF, which is DO friendly but definitely has its pros and cons as a program (look around the site a little to find out more). It's not exactly perfect.
(For the record, I'm a DO who wanted to match in Cleveland for family reasons...I did college there, and my wife and I own a house there. I ended up ranking CCF #1, didn't get it (!?), and ultimately matched at a program with a much better reputation that isn't all far away. Looking back, I'm a lot happier with what I ended up with...PM me if you have questions.)
