Okay, so on a typical Christmas morning, I would indulge myself in food with the family. Instead, I can't get out of my mind the C I received in my Math class. It's my first quarter of college and I received two As, a B, and a C.

I was wondering how grad schools look at a C in the first quarter? Should I just retake the class?

On my first semester of college I had something like 1 A, 2 B's and 1 C. I focused on improving over the semesters and learning what I was in college to learn, and I got accepted to pharmacy school. If I can do it, so can you.

It depends on the class. If you were learning fundamentals in that course and you believe that you got a C because you struggled with the concepts, then you might consider taking it again so that you can make sure you understand it well enough before moving on to upper level courses.

I wouldn't worry about it (no need to retake it). Just do well in your classes from now on. If I did my math correct, you got a ~3.25 GPA. It's better to focus on your school work now vs retaking the course.

I received 1 C in undergrad, and I started college with a 3.1 GPA. I ended with a ~3.6 and got into pharmacy school 🙂

good luck and merry christmas!

Don't let it get to you. The first semester really means nothing in the overall scope of things... if you fix whatever problem brought your GPA down (distractions, work, whatever) and rectify the situation then it'll be no problem.

That said, a ~3.0 cumulative and ~3.0 sGPA seems to be sufficient, with decent ECs and work exp., to be more than enough for schools so...

Thank you all for the reassurance. I really appreciate it. I was simply worried because as of right now, my sGPA is 2.0 (My As and B were in Computer Science and Writing).

Also, my friend is stressing because he got a C- in Chem. Is it a severe difference from a C? These UCSD profs are tough. 🙁

1) can retake the clss with the "C" but must make an "A" to round out the "C". (unless school takes the second grade only then its better)

2) make alot better overall gpa grades the next semesters/seasons

Lower grades at the beginning of college are more forgivable than poor grades towards the end. They like to see upward trends! Good luck 👍

I had a 2.2 GPA after my first two years in college.

Been busting my butt since then and I've had three interviews. Don't sweat it.

Yeah, my junior year was horrible for me. C's galore, cancer to my transcript. I got 10 interviews total. Went to 4 and declined 6. 👍
