Hello everyone,

I am qualified as a Dentist and have done master in community dentistry (public health) in india. I have around 3 years of clinical experience and a year of teaching experience. I wish to settle abroad as early as possible, may be in 6 months and am looking for opportunities in canada. I plan to apply for Immigration (PR) to canada and as per the information I have received, the duration for processing the same is two and a half years ( in India), less or more.

I have few queries, please anyone respond

1. Can I get a job in canada without having to write NBDE exam ( as the community dentists are in demand, i guess so) and get a work permit ( which takes lesser time than immigration processing) and travel to canada, while my immigration is processed?
2. If I have to take up NBDE exam, is the period for qualifying program, which is typically 2 years, same for even people who have done post graduation?
3. Can anyone share information as to how to apply for qualifying program from india?

I have more, but let me start with these doubts..

Thanks in advance.

NBDE is for American DDS/DMD programs.

No. There is a demand but you cannot work without a license.

2. If I have to take up NBDE exam, is the period for qualifying program, which is typically 2 years, same for even people who have done post graduation?

Yes.

You can click on this link http://www.ndeb.ca/en/index.htm and do a little investigating! Bonne chance!

Although immigration policy to Canada is not as convoluted as that of US, international qualifications still do need to go through several layers of artificial barriers. As compared to some US states where you can skip that layer via specialty training and obtaining state-only licensure, I don't think that's possible in Canada.

On a side note, if anyone is interested in ice hockey (NHL), did anyone see the game between Nashville Predators vs. Ottawa Senators? 6-0 to the Preds and Sullivan scored his 6th hat-trick! What a game!!!

Hi

Which college r u from.I mean BDS and MDS

hi

yes u can apply for the EE program from india itself and can give the exam also even though you are not a PR or citizen but the exam can only be given in canada.

secondly u can apply only to univ of manitoba as an international student where as all the other canadian univ offering QP require you to be either a citizen or PR of canada.

hope that helped.

I have applied 1 year ago in Canada for the PR, and my lawyer told me that I only have to wait a few more months till I get it.
you have to make sure you have a score higher than 67 of immigration points.
If you have a family, then you have a chance, otherwise You need to have moderate french skills when passing the TEF exam.

Hi PH dentist. go to www.acfd.ca & www.ndeb.ca
This two websites will answer all your questions. One more thing no matter how highly qualified u r in India it dosent matter even a bit here. U have to give the eligibility exam, score 85% and above in it (to have a chance in the total of 62 seats in all of Canada) then go to whichever uni. that calls u for interview and practical exam. If u r excellent in ur clinical skills, u will get in somewhere, but if ur practical hand is on the weaker side start practising, cos even a score of 85% and higher wont help u then. One more thing that might be on positive side for u is ur masters dedgree cos Uni. Of British Columbia,Vancouver prefers students with Masters.

So once u come to canada dont limit urself to canadian schools only, start pursuing National Boards part1&2 also for getting into US schools, cos its comparatively easy to get in there as US has a lot more Uni. with lot many seats for Foriegn Trained Dentists compared to the limited seats available in Canada.

I might sound a bit blunt but this is the reality I am telling u. If u need any more help feel free to ask.
Take care and best.

HI,

Hi,
It will take you about four to six years to get your immigration from India plus about three years for compleating your qualifing programme here in Canada.
So best way i feel is to apply for an international student seat and compleate you four year dental school and get your licenst to practice in Canada.
Sorry for being so blunt but this is one way of looking at this.

U can take pary 1/2 national boards. The exams r offered in Canada too.check out www.ada.org, Get good scores in it and apply to US universities. Then the procedure is same as in Canada. Go to whichever schools that call u for interview and exams, if u do good u r in.Of course u need a visitors visa to US for attending the interviews, if u r not a canadian citizen. If u r a PR in most cases u get a ten year visitors visa to US.Thats what I did after trying for three years in Canada. The max I could go on ACFD is 84 after writing it five times. Even with this score I got an interview call from only one uni, where the competition was so severe that I was shocked. In NB 1/2 i got 89/84. I got a call from seven universities of the eight I applied to and got into one of the programs. This is because US has more spots than canada for foriegn grads.

Hope this helps, take care and best.👍
