When listing experiences..
animal, veterinary and community (primarily with some of the animal and community though)

Do you "have" to list an end date? Or is it good to do that?

Some of my activities include volunteer work with 4-H, which is something I don't intend to ever end, although realistically while in vet school I won't be able to do as much. Should I put August 2011 as an "end date" or just leave it open?

Is it different for community vs. animal activities listing end dates or not?

Since you put the number of hours, I would do the end date as the date/year you are submitting, with your hours up to that point, and then maybe put in the description or your PS or somewhere else that you plan to continue that activity.

I think that unless you are doing something actively, do list an end date. The only activities I didn't list an end date for are my current job as a lab animal tech, which I intend to continue for the forseeable future and horseback riding, which I also intend to continue, even in vet school hopefully. Even if you intend to continue with 4H forever, if you aren't currently active in a chapter or at shows or whatnot, I would list the end date as the last time you were actively participating.

Like others have said, if you are doing it actively, then put the end date as the date which you submit it, and include in the description that you will continue doing it. I am also active in 4H (as a leader) and am including that I will continue doing it. If you are not active in 4H anymore, then I would just list the last date you did something 4H-related and say that you intend to do 4H related things in the future.
