Inservice 2009
Started by tkim
To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. I had no preparation, and no one really talked much about it beforehand. Anyway, I found some questions to be pretty easy, and a whole bunch of them to be way out in left field.
What does everyone's program do with the in service scores?

This is my first ITE, and I had no idea what to expect, but I guess it went ok, or atleast that whats I think. I maybe totally wrong, lets see. Those who have taken it before, can u guyz tell how long it takes to get the results?
I thought it was a mess. Way more ambiguous than last year.👎
Agreed 1000 per cent. Much worse than last year.
Maybe I'm just stupider (even by the use of that word I demonstrate my stupidity)

We'll see in a few weeks, I guess.
This is the first year I took it.
I used pretty much only the 1000 questions book. Did all the questions and read most of the explanations and took notes over the last 2-3 weeks.
I was surprised by how much overlap there was. I would swear some questions were practically identical...
We will see how the grade turns out; if I did even decently well (i.e. passed), I will swear by that 1000 question book!
I was surprised by the amount of peds that was on it; espically since we do a month of peds each year and I have not done mine yet. Much of the issues were covered in that book though...

This was my third one, and I thought the question distribution was a little different from the other two. In the past I'd say it was about 20% gimmes, 60% average, and 20% difficult out in left field questions. This time I felt there were more gimmes and more difficult questions without as many midrange.
Different programs do different things with the scores. Our program uses them as part of a checklist to get your moonlighting wings. If you score below a certain number, no moonlighting. So that's why people in my program care about it. Other than that, it's just a practice test to let you know where you stand on your book knowlege.
I think some programs use them to help pick chiefs.

I found the actual board exam to be easier than the in-training exams. Take that for whatever it's worth.

Scores are out. Got mine about 10 minutes ago (real thing, not a joke like my other thread).

heard from our program that the scores were recently FedEx'd and that programs should get hardcopies of the scores this week.
We got our scores today as well.
Our PD emailed ours out last night. Glad the suspense is over!
