Has anyone heard back from Oschner? They told us candidates that they would release their selected candidates last Friday but at least 2 of us haven't heard anything back from them. I wonder if they already did and are just ignoring the guys who were not selected.

Had my interview at NYP/Columbia on 12/18/2020 - supposedly they want to release the results before Christmas. Let's just see what happens.

Also, next interview at Montefiore on 1/7/2020

Thanks. I hate when programs don't even let their applicants know they haven't been selected. I got a rejection from NYP-Columbia today. FML.

Any idea about the University of Missouri Columbia program? Procedural volume/structural exposure..etc

Their website does not mention anything about the interventional fellowship.
 
BIDMC is filled. They sent interview cancellation today.
VCU invitation received today.

Anybody wants to share their interview experience? How was the process with zoom?
What are some questions that are usually asked?

Will share my experience as soon as I get my first interviews done but was curious to hear everyone's experience!

Kind of piggybacking on that - would anyone be willing to share an approximate number of interviews received, and whether they took place in December, or are upcoming in Jan/Feb? It's such a weird cycle that it's a bit difficult to get a sense of where things stand. Perhaps oddly, some programs have asked me the same questions to get a ballpark sense of how fast they need to move. Interesting.

I've had a couple interviews this month, with the rest upcoming in January. So far, I didn't mind the video format. Neither did my wallet. I wish I could have seen the places, the labs in particular of course. But the interviews themselves, I don't think it took too much away. Questions were mostly pretty standard. What is your cath lab experience, how do you envision your career evolving after fellowship, why do you like our program, etc.

Also - if anyone has information on places that have filled via interview in December, it would be great to update for our list I think, so that we're not hanging around waiting on these programs as the calendar flips. I know it's hard getting a hold of many of these offices, and especially now with the holiday break, near impossible. I made a few calls over the past week, and the following programs are either done sending out interviews or filled: Yale, Houston Methodist, GWU, Brown, and Cornell. Or if you yourself filled the only seat available at a given program, maybe make a separate account solely to update this list while protecting your identity - I think that's allowed right? Haha.

Some questions:
1. On average, how long are people being given to decide on an offer?
2. Has anyone heard anything from Brigham, Emory, NYU, or Vanderbilt?
3. How much of a red flag is it (if at all) if the current fellows aren't part of the interview day?
4. I heard one program showed an anomalous coronary and asked interviewees to identify it. Is this common? Thoughts on this being part of the interview process?

I can give some input based on my experience so far. It’s a very tricky process without match.
1. There was one program that gave a week to decide. But mostly it’s 24-48 hours after the offer.
2. Brigham is filled. Haven’t heard back from the others yet.
3. not sure if it’s a red flag. If the program has fewer IC fellows and they are scrubbed it, can be hard for them to join the interview. But does take away from our experience.
4. medical/cath questions during the IV are not the norm. But some of the New York programs have been known to do that.

Hi heartlove! Thank you so much for offering to help, but looks like they have something called “Freeze date” for 1/7 interview set at 12 am on 1/1/21, meaning nothing can be done after that. I doubt anything an be done at this hour. May not be worth messing around. I’ll keep things as they are until Jan 4 (Monday). I will call them on Monday to see if anything can be done, and will reach out to you if you’re still available to switch. I can totally understand if you’re not able to do it at that point. Good luck and thanks again! :)
 
From last year (completely different environment obviously) I had about 10 interviews or so by mid January, picked up another 5-6 in the next month or two, even got an interview in April/May which was weird.

Two NYC places and one in FL asked questions, straightforward diagnostic angiogram/recognition questions. I didn't mind, they are training you to be an IC not a diagnostic fellow and they want to know that you have the basics down.

The questioning was also not malignant, if you knew it, great move on, if not, they gave you the answer, then you moved on. I also found that the fellows at the NYC program were pretty happy. For Mt. Sinai specifically, what I took away was, the fellows were happy even if over worked - they knew what they signed up for...and even more importantly...there were 80+ cases scheduled for that day...with the 4 main operators interviewing all day and not doing any cases, can't even imagine a day when they are in the lab. It all boils down to what you want out of your program. ACGME isn't letting anyone get abused anymore.
 
Any one know about Emory if they sent invitations or if they filled internally

Any idea when montefiore will be offering spots and how many spot for external candidates they have for this year? I have family in new york and thats my only interview in Northeast.
 
A general question. What percentage of programs you guys think are yet to offer interviews?
 
Hmmmmm. 38%? Almost time for an ICD.
I have essentially no basis for this guess haha.

Based on the list we have here there are 80 programs that are done with invitation/rejection/internal filling. that would leave around 80 more that we do not have information on ..
