hi everyone,
i'm new to studentdoctor.net anyways, i have an upcoming interview at umsl and i'm sooo nervous. i was wondering if any one had any helpful insight about interviews at this school. i've seen alot about pco, nova, & others but not umsl. any insight would be helpful. thanks!
I interviewed, was accepted and I'm still in the process of deciding which school I'll attend (UMSL or SCO).
The interviews at UMSL are *incredibly* laid back.
The first part of your day is spent attending a presentation by Dr. Brown where she will tell you 85-90% of the questions you'll see in your interview (and how to answer many of them
🙂)
Next, you'll tour the school, and have pizza with the student ambassadors who conduct the tour.
Then you'll decide (amongst yourselves) the order of the interviews. Each person will "take their turn" interviewing with Dr. Bennett & one other person.
As long as you have a reasonable answer for "What is an optometrist?", "Why do you want to be an optometrist?", or any of the other questions that Dr. Brown told you to expect, you'll do just fine. It is nothing to be nervous about. They're not out to "trick" you or anything...
Right after my interview was over, they let me know I was accepted. They took me to the Dean's office & introduced me to him. They took my picture and presented me with a "certificate of acceptance" on the spot.
Let me know if you have further/specific questions about either UMSL or SCO. There are others on the forum that have been accepted at these and other schools.
