what should be in the post interview thank you letter and should it be sent by email, snail mail, and how long should it be?

i agree...snail mail is preferable and keep it short (mine have been 3-5 sentences).

it's also good to mention something in particular you may have discussed with your interviewer, that way hopefully he/she will remember you (for example: I really enjoyed discussing your school's amazing XYZ program)
