Well, I don't think my interview went very hot. There three interview sections. A social, a panel and a one on one with two professors from the pharmacy school.
The social one went fine. It was with the director of social something and two P3's I think. We just talked about what we did in our free time and our hobbies and our jobs. This interview was done in a group.
After that, there was the panel. It had three pharmacists from all over KY as well as a P4 that was doing his rotations. I was with the same group I had done the social interview with. I was asked the very first question. It was something like "Consider the changes that have been occuring with the health care systme in the US, do you feel you have any reservations about entering the pharmacy profession?"
Of course, I freak out and don't answer the question. I blabbled about rising health care costs and sounded like an idiot. After everyone else spoke, they came back to me and asked if I had time to collect my thoughts. I responded with a somewhat more logical response that actually answered the question.
Other questions asked "What recent issues have you read about the profession in a literary source or publication?" "what fields of pharmacy are you maybe interested in exploring?" and "where do you see yourself in 20 years?" ... oh, and "what will you do when you become a pharmacist to balance your life (hobbies..etc, etc)?" I answered these questions pretty well.
AFter that, I went by myslef to have an interview with two professors. This one was horrible. They would ask me a question, and from my response, they would make a blatant statement about my personality. For example, they asked me to talk about a situation in which I was in a huge conflict with someone and how I handled it. I talked about when I was a manager at a pool my sophomore year of college, I had one problem with some highschool chick because she would never want to clean at closing. AFter I talked about it, one of the guys was like "So, you let things fester and then when it blows up, you attempt to clean up the pieces."
Or, when I was asked if I liked to work in groups or by myself, he accessed ne by saying "so, the only reason why you like to work in groups is because you want to take advantage of people and use them to catch mistakes you might make."
And then, they asked me what an argument was like when I fought with my husband.
Yeah, I left out of there feeling like crap. I think they may have been trying to see how I react under pressure. Which I react well, because I said things like "well, if that's the impression I gave, I did not mean to" and I didn't lose my temper or anything. And I explained by I decided to act a certain way in a situation that i did.
Anyways, the whole thing was very intense. I think I was too focused on saying what I thought they wanted to hear.
Questions asked in the one on one : "Describe a situation when you were in a conflict with a prof or a fellow student" "talk about a class outside of your prepharmacy classwork that opened your eyes to the world" "describe some other fields of pharmacy that you could possibly enter" "what kind of things sports wise are you involved"
The committee is meeting on wed to decide and letters are being mailed out on Friday
I think that's it. Each separate interview was 25 minutes long.
