So, I was at the interview and things were going well, then she asks where else I was applying..

I tell her..


then she responds those are great schools, and why would you come here if accepted..

I gave a great genuine answer, then she's like well if you interview at Y school..I have a friend there ask for her..here is her card...


what the hell


she tells me to contact this person and good luck...😕

Well... not necessarily. If you think that you conveyed well your reasons for choosing this school over the others, I think you're probably still ok....

For future interviews, though, you shouldn't list the other schools you're applying to. When interviewers asked me the question, I said something along the lines of "other schools in the northeast - some in NY. NJ, etc.". One interviewer pushed for details, but I just stuck to that. I think that's the best approach. However, I don't think that they're even allowed to ask that question, so the whole situation is pretty unfair...

Maybe you can write your interviewer a thank-you note and mention again why you like this school. If you're a good candidate, then I don't think they're going to reject you just because you mentioned other schools you want to go to.

Don't worry about it. Last year when I was interviewing several places asked where I had applied, where I interviewed, etc. I always just told them. I still got into those schools. People ask these questions for a lot of reasons, sometimes even just to see how you react. On the plus side if the interviewer had loathed you they wouldn't have been giving you their friends card! So clearly you made an agreeable impression on your interviewer. Good luck 😉

Funny thing, I've been asked this at just about every school I've chosen to interview at (14 total). I usually just answer honestly and make sure I state why I'm interested in the particular school I'm interviewing at. I definitely do not think it blows your chances, unless the school is that petty about such things

Man, until now I felt great about my 3 with 2 acceptances so far.
