Cheap hotel? west side of manhattan? sorry, doesn't exist. $250/night will buy you a lousy room.


You best bet might be to stay in Jersey (some place within walking distance of a NJ transit stop) and take the train in.

Or better yet, find a student to host you.

There are very few "cheap" hotels in NYC, however you could stay at a hostel. There is one in my neighborhood which is supposed to be decent (as far as US hostels go). Its called the Chelsea International Youth Hostel I believe, and I think you can get a private room. I know they are online.

it's kind of short notice, but you might want to call the admissions office and see if they could set you up with a student host. otherwise, try hotels.com...not sure if it covers NYC, but it's probably your best bet for getting something resembling a reasonable price in the city.

If you're in NYC on a tight budget and you cant stay with a student host, then I suggest staying at a hostel. You'll pay $30 a night, and although the rooms are loud, there will be decent bathrooms and you'll have access to irons and hairdryers. Don't forget, however, to bring a towel - they probably won't provide one. Google search NYC and hostel to find one. 👍

cornell should provide you with a pdf file w/ hotel info on it. I found my hotel (pickwick arms) for $109 a night. It was like 18 blocks away, not too bad. Hotel was pretty clean, but you had to share a bathroom.
