Hello friends, 🙂

I was wondering if the Goljan audio was enough for just the Path portion of Step 1. I have his notes that are supposed to go along with the lectures, but he stated that he included information in his notes that weren't for Step 1, but for Step 2 (when he talked about sickle cell disease). I don't want to sound as if im half-a**ing Path, but I don't have a whole lot of time left. So, I was wondering if Goljan audio BY ITSELF (which is already a wealth of information) is "good enough" along with qBank and Robbins review questions? I mean I don't want to start studying for stuff that isn't going to be tested.

The lecture notes are like 200 pages and to be studying things that aren't going to be tested is wasting time. Or are these lecture notes worth it?

Any input would be great.

IMO Goljan audio is not enough. He talks about obscure questions that might show up, however on the real exam. You are playing hit or miss. I would study BRS Pathology (if you have time) thoroughly especially for the General Pathology sections. It is better to gain a solid knowledge base of pathology rather than remembering obscure facts that might show up on the exam.

wanna bring this thread back to life again, cos i have the same question

except im reading Rapid Review Pathology by Goljan as i listen to the corresponding Audio (see thread on which audio file corresponds with which chapter)

but during the audio lectures, Goljan skips over parts of his RR. he highlight the most important stuff..

the question is, is that enough? or do i make sure i read every page of RR

(e.g. i've skipped chapter 5 and 6 of RR - genetic/developmental disorders, and environmental pathology)

i'm also using the free USMLEconsult qbank by Goljan that came along with the RR book. after each chapter, ill test myself with the corresponding topic/subject

i've been noticing in his audio, goljan mentions the most common and important conditions of each category
e.g. under VASCULAR DISORDERS OF KIDNEY (page 411 of RR 3E), he will go through malignant HTN, and renal infarction only, and not talk about sickle cell nephropathy, and diffuse cortical necrosis.

well obviously im looking at FA as i go along too, making sure i go through every condition mention in FA path + path sections of each system in FA

out of curiousity, does anyone study from the Goljan RR Blue Margins during the final few weeks/days? write them down to help hone them in?

First Aid + Rapid Review + Qbank will get you average

Add a Qbank, get 10 points

Add Goljan audio, get 10 points

Add Kaplan's Course (the book and lectures) get 20 points.

everything is ~ish, of course.

I thought the combo of using Rapid Review during the school year + school lectures and then Goljan audio +Uworld + FA was enough for me
