Is it a good idea to list my college's honors program as an experience on my AMCAS application? I mean, though all the rigorous classes, more interactiveness with diverse age groups and races, increased volunteering opportunities, and the time to write up a thesis. Plus, many other times of commitment..

How about the SURF at Mayo Clinic for 10 weeks last summer??

What do you think? Any of you do it with any luck?

If that is the most significant thing you have done and you really have nothing better, you probably should. But this recommendation is based more on your past posting than sound advice.






But just in case you really don't understand. The answer is: No. Experiences are about production and skills derived. You can't talk about that from an honors program. Not to mention, the purpose is to see what else you bring to the table, not a reiteration of your academic accolades.

Honestly, you're annoying. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you were teased as a child or something just messed you up.

Agree with Mimelin, if you did volunteering, and a thesis and all that as a result of the honors program then you can mention those as individual things or under the subheading of "volunteering" or "research" that way you still get credit for it.

I'm going to give a serious answer because I can't tell if you're serious and if you are, I'm begining to feel sorry for you and all your threads that have turned to crap.

The answer is no. Do not use an entire activity space to say you were in the honors program. If you have an "Honors & Awards" activity box that list other honors and awards, then by all means include it in there. Also, "increased volunteering opportunities"... what does that even mean? cause to me, it literally means, you had a lot of opportunities to volunteer, but didn't. You need to use an activity box for each volunteer gig you did that was longer than say a week or something - use good judgment here. Don't just say you volunteered, describe what you did and learned.

Yes, use an entire activity box for your Mayo SURF. This is a good thing to have on your application. But be sure to write about it better than you are writing about things on this forum.

My best advice from here forward though would be to think before you post 🙄

I agree. OP, and a lot of other trolls need to be banned from SDN. Except I didn't expect to see this coming from one of the highly respected and helpful members of the forum. That says a lot about OP.

Moderators seem to take a pretty hands-off approach when it comes to banning people and deleting trash threads like this. It's pretty obvious that, at a minimum, this guy is being intentionally antagonistic and not contributing anything to the forum. In reality, I think it's pretty obvious that he's trolling.

Probably. But in allo and upper-level threads, trolls get removed instantly (maybe few days tops)... I wish the same occurred in preallo. That would clean the mess big time.

I don't have a double blinded randomized controlled trial to prove that this is a 'trash' thread since that is probably what I'd need to win an argument with you. However, I do have....

Um...fine, do that. People will care about that about as much as we care about your email from them. As in, not at all.

I would not put down your thesis, as you have clearly NOT learned how to do your own research through those experiences. If you had, you would not be so stumped by simple procedures such as searching these forums, reading AMCAS and school-specific websites, etc...

I mean, seriously, you either need us to hold your hand and walk you through this whole process in baby steps (which isn't gonna happen), or you're trolling. Neither one is helpful to this community. Nor are your precious letters and phone calls, because while it may be encouraging to you that Mayo is sending you correspondence, the info you've shown so far is pretty generic, and available on teh interwebz if you know how to use Google/the SDN searchbar.

He's creating trouble and posting confidential information, as others have pointed out. Not to mention that his user name is conveying that he is an official representative of our school. Considering the amount of identifiable information (assuming they aren't all bogus lies) he has posted, I doubt it will be too difficult to identify him. Probably true, however IMO this guy has clearly done enough to warrant a ban even if he hasn't violated a particular policy. Come on now. It should be obvious that he/she isn't going to meaningfully contribute anything here.
