I am writing my DAT this sept.. but havent applied to this cycle yet.. i kinda wanna see my DAT score first... would it be too late to apply by sept 5th?
Also, i have been out of school for a year and half any recommendation abtou the reference letters? would dentists letter and employers (nonscience field) be enought? any comments would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

depends on your grades. if your gpa and dat are well above avg, it may be worth it to apply to those school that have later deadlines.

all the schools i applied to required recs from a pre-health committee at your school, or at least one letter from a science professor.

from what you've posted, it sounds like you are not prepared to apply by september 5th. if you really want this to happen, you got to get your transcripts, recs, and everything else except DATs ready NOW because they take a long time to process.

for example, it takes 3+ weeks for official dat scores to process from the day you take the exam.

good luck! 🙂

It is widely known that applying as early as possible is super important. Schools are going to be interviewing soon and have already started sending out invites. On Dec. 1st the dental schools will fill approximately 70% of their seats.....the later you apply...the later you interview and the % drops drastically from there.....meaning the level of competition increases dramatically.

About the letters of rec: contact your some of your science professors or get a committee letter (preferred).....and/or a dentist is a big deal.....employers are not significant in any way to dental admissions committees so try to avoid that track.

Seriously tho.....get your app submitted now like yjdentist said...really important......the schools will not review it until it is complete (ie DAT scores are present) so having it waiting is a good strategy
Good luck!

I think it's wiser to just improve on your application and prepare for next year's cycle. imo...why waste the money, unless your stats are that good.
