Taus is strong on two general principles:
1. Make a couple complete passes through First Aid
2. Slowly increase the # of questions you do as your study period goes on, and slowly decrease the amount of time you spend doing content review
That alone, provided UWorld is your question bank and you go through it faithfully, will get anyone a decent score. I'd say the biggest difference between high scorers and low scorers is how much prior knowledge they brought to the table, which is roughly proportional to how effectively they studied in the first two years. No magic formula can substitute for a strong performance in the preclinical years.
