I did an extra 3 months in Iraq when my relief developed PTSD due to sexual harrassment in CONUS 2 weeks before deployment. For all I know, it was totally true and valid. Still meant that I missed an extra Christmas.

As someone who has rotated on the bariatric surgery service twice at The President's Hospital I can tell you that the tax payers will indeed cover your roux-en-Y as long as you are a dependent or retired.

This is true. I have seen a handful of people on immunosuppressants sent from downrange for a severe Crohn's or UC flare in my short 1.5 years as a resident.

Not prior to enlistment. That is my point. If obesity was a pre-existing condition.

At my local MTF they are willing to provide hormonal therapy for individuals wanting to go the transgender route not sure if this is my MTF specifically of an army wide thing

They (meaning I now have 2 patients) are already receiving BH services. I've now been hooked up the team creating the policies so hopefully will know something soon.

Things may have changed, but folks self-identifying as potentially transgendered were recommended for referral to psychiatry, even if seen by someone in Behavioral Health. Because of the medical issues associated, these folks were to be referred to psychiatry even if see by LCSWs, psychologists, etc.
