MD & DO It's been a year, anyone know updates with Amir Al Dabaagh (Case Western) and Anjali Rankissoon?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

While I agree with the sentiment, I'd rather see a solid MD student who got canned because of some lame professionalism concern (translation: he has some minor unresolved psych issue and he pissed off important people) than 8/10 PAs.

Residents don't get canned because of lame professionalism issues, though. They get canned because of spectacular professionalism issues.

That makes sense. A resident is a huge investment… Difficult to let go because the program put a lot of work into training them. It takes some egregious behavior to be let go as a resident...I’ve seen a few, and they wouldn’t be able to work at McDonald’s with the attitude they had.

Like grab ass at a dance? A DUI barely over the limit? BSing with a TA about showing up late? An off-hours misdemeanor assault?

None of these are "spectacular professionalism" issues. The presidents of Michigan State and USC had "spectacular professionalism" issues.

oh good god, get over yourself. AR's and A A-D's case and the reasons for his dismissal have been discussed ad nauseam on this board.

He said that dismissals were only for "spectacular professionalism" issues. In a thread about AR and AAD...derp.

Umm, yes, both of those cases were spectacular, if you actually looked at them. Consequences for behavior isn't a "SJW" thing, it's called being a grownup.

So if a misdemeanor, off-hours assault is "spectacularly unprofessional" - what do you label a school president trading succ-succ for changing an F to a P? "fantastically unbelievably spectacularly unprofessional"

Easily-triggered moral outrage and very poor administrative boundaries pertain to both SJW bollox and professionalism gestapos.

Drop the victim mentality dude, particularly if you're gonna call people snowflakes.

Don't play stupid games to win stupid prizes. Simple as that. It's actually shockingly easy to not commit misdemeanor assault, contrary to what you might think. What some creep admin did or didn't do has nothing to do with it. Don't f-ck up as a trainee. It's not hard.

Calling a spade a spade is not a "victim mentality"

A president altering grades from F to P in exchange for sexual favors on a semi-regular basis is much more egregious than an off-hours misdemeanor assault. Both are less serious than, say, Larry Nassar's actions. All of which are less serious than perpetrating the holocaust.

You’re defeating your own point here mate.

Neither of which have anything to do with residents getting terminated. AR and A A-D both had it coming, and if anything your examples are a nice reason why we need to nip fcukup trainees in the bud before they become powerful fcukups.

I'd hope you'd have the self-awareness to see how Gu-like you're sounding.

Can someone explain how it’s possible she practice psych when her training was in neuro and not even complete? Does that mean if I did an intern year or even FM residency completed and then decided to open up a cash clinic for psych that’s legit and doable? (As a US med school grad)

States grant licenses to practice "medicine and surgery". Period.

As a family doctor, I am legally allowed to perform surgery as far as the government is concerned.

An off-hours misdemeanor assault?

If someone thinks this isn’t a spectacularly egregious breach of professionalism that everyone in medicine is held to, especially a student...I don’t even know what to say. I suspect trolling. And the a** grabbing at a dance was repeated and unwanted, and the girl made it clear in front of multiple witnesses that she didn’t want to be touched, and he did it anyway. I don’t want an entitled prick like that as my physician.

Ohh... @Goro
...sigh. Here goes. Not all the same person but all sadly were female.
-Telling patients they were lucky to have her as their physician (as a resident) because she was too good to be in this hospital
-being so rude and entitled to nurses that literally every rotation she had a written complaint against her (getting our union nurses to pick up a pen, let alone file a complaint, is a feat in itself...she managed this >20 times)
-making another resident hold the pager while she was on nights and at home sleeping instead of being in the hospital
-telling people outside the hospital that the reason she was failing rotations is because she was hot and refused to sleep with an attending (hint: nope. She failed all in-training exams)
-and my favorite: when it became clear she was going to be kicked out she asked for my help in suing because “girls need to stick together.” I refused. She threatened me. I told her to go to hell. She proceeded to file a complaint with the acgme stating I had committed a crime and various unprofessional things (my record was spotless) in an attempt to get me fired. This triggered an automatic investigation with lawyers coming in, that had to be reported to my chairman. (She worded it in such a way to make them question everyone, nurses staff etc so that my reputation would be ruined, but thankfully it didn’t get that far.) of course they found nothing, and I immediately told them about her threats, everything was dropped and my record wiped clean. But it caused me months of terror. It wouldn’t have helped her in any way to do this, she just wanted to do a nasty thing to me. She ended up being fired anyway. Evil c**t.

Last one sounds like a sociopath. We had one on my first ship. She stole from the NEX on payday just to see what would happen. She then got engaged to one of my friends on the ship and then cheated on him with two other married Sailors on the ship just to see how they would all react when they found out about each other.

Omg that's horrible. Any idea what she's doing now?

This is especially amusing given your penchant for trying to tease the students on here with your “yes I have stories, no I won’t tell!” routine.

My friend is getting paid ~ 200k + 26k/yr loan repayment + housing subsidy and all the federal benefit you can get with just a GP license. Has zero restrictions in what he can do and everyone calls him Dr. That's a heck of a lot better than being a MLP.

Is there any evidence for the assertion that "the student who plays grab ass at a dance is the future Larry Nassar" narrative?

Please explain how discomfort with school administrators looking over my shoulder at every aspect of my personal life reflects low maturity.
It displays a lack of understanding of what you're getting into. You are joining a profession where we are held to a higher standard the most. This has been well known for decades. If you have a problem with it, I would suggest you look at other career paths because this is not changing anytime soon.

Your back must be in shambles from moving all those goalposts.

Your back must be in shambles from moving all those goalposts.
Also, LOL, wut.
In addition to what you have mentioned, you have several other factors:
1. Forced interactions with a population where incidence of cluster b is probably 20x what's seen in the general population.
2. Being the subject of extensive political Pygmalion by seemingly always fringe-left school administrators.
3. Surrendering all rights to personal privacy if assigned to certain preceptors, including unrestricted access to mental health records.
4. A 7-13 year investment into a career vulnerable to (increasingly unstable) political processes rather than market forces.

How creepy do you have to be for you to start believing that higher ups and your school are giving a sh-t about your personal life sort of getting arrested?

Anjali Ramkissoon is actually a neurologist not a psychiatrist.

Wait so she did get to finish her neurology residency? Ugh, why do I care
I bet they worked out something with her, contrary to what was told to the media. Doctors do tend to protect other doctors.

Honestly who cares about some dumb girl. What happened to that attending on here who was creepily obsessed and almost stalking her and had a website tracking her every move?

Wtf is wrong with people?

These websites like US news and health grades are notoriously inaccurate. The key was the listing that made it appear that she spoke Yiddish. I found that to be highly unlikely So did some investigation

I don’t see any evidence from Jackson Memorial that she completed residency and in fact if you look her up by NPI or license number they have her practicing “general practice“ which is generally the realm of people who don’t finish residency.

I'm not indian/desi. I grew up with a bunch though and dated a few desi chicks. It's sad cause the cute ones I dated weren't too sharp and the sharp ones weren't too cute. And the one that was both... well ... she was CRAY CRAY.

Not Ramkisoon cray cray... but let's just say this whole incident brought back memories.

Also, their moms all made awesome Biryani and Naan. LOL

How do people not know what a "desi" is? ESPECIALLY in medicine? Kinda crazy to believe!
Believe me, been there, done that...you wanna run from crazy.

Well, there is a Dr. Anjali Ramkissoon practicing psychiatry in north Miami.

Yikes! of 83 responses on her healthgrades report, 59 give her a 1-star (the worst) with most of them saying "Rude, arrogant, incompetent, would never trust, horrible, human scum ..." and 22 giving her excellent reviews (self??)

This was my understanding.
Just quoted you to say that Gritty is the only thing the Flyers have going for them  #GoBolts or if at the Rock, Rangers suck, Flyers ...

you dont have to be a verified patient to give reviews. I am betting a good chunk of those came after the news story of bad behavior broke.

Doc quoted is right. She's a GP, but working in psych.

And most of those bad reviews are not patients. At least on my anecdote, she's super nice and easy to talk to and is not arrogant at all. She's also super freakin cute huehue
