I hear what you guys wrote about NYU, and the fear of failing out. I think anyone who fears of failing out of dental school of any sort is simply not ready for dental school - that person lacks in confidence in himself, and this will have multitude of effects.
Now. I am confident about dental school, and there is little doubt in my mind that whatever school I enter, I would graduate. Everything I've heard from different sources regards dental school as difficult, challenging, and yet doable. Maybe I won't be the top ten per cent and then specialize or what. One year ago, I wouldn't feel the same way, but I decided to spend a year of my life boosting up on the hardest, and yet most relevant science courses I can find in a post-bac program.
In my opinion, for those who decided NYU solely because of the fear of dropping out is making a decision out of fear rather than an accurate internal assessment. How long do you want fear to push your cart around? How long do you want fear to be sitting on your shoulder? I do not like fear. It is not my friend. It is my enemy. Confidence, courage, and discipline are my friends.
