I have met some at conventions & have some in my residency. I am sorry to say but they are incompetent in this field. They recieve very poor training academically & clinically. There's also some ethical problems to say the least. I would hope u would choose IU. Hope you take this well but I am sure you want to be a better, caring dentist who would like to stay as far away from lawsuits as possible. Despite all, I still do believe UOP provides the best dental education & prepares u for the real world....... well, good luck w/ your decision...
cheers..

how many people have to tell these horror stories about NYU before people notice the truth?

For some reason I highly doubt tooth05 is a 4th year student at NYU.
Please look up an old thread of a student that got kicked out of my class. He even mentioned that it was his fault for not studying.
jk5177 said:I hear what you guys wrote about NYU, and the fear of failing out. I think anyone who fears of failing out of dental school of any sort is simply not ready for dental school - that person lacks in confidence in himself, and this will have multitude of effects.
Now. I am confident about dental school, and there is little doubt in my mind that whatever school I enter, I would graduate. Everything I've heard from different sources regards dental school as difficult, challenging, and yet doable. Maybe I won't be the top ten per cent and then specialize or what. One year ago, I wouldn't feel the same way, but I decided to spend a year of my life boosting up on the hardest, and yet most relevant science courses I can find in a post-bac program.
In my opinion, for those who decided NYU solely because of the fear of dropping out is making a decision out of fear rather than an accurate internal assessment. How long do you want fear to push your cart around? How long do you want fear to be sitting on your shoulder? I do not like fear. It is not my friend. It is my enemy. Confidence, courage, and discipline are my friends.

Broc, your posts in this thread are going downhill fast. Unless this garbage stops going up, I don't think you'd be much missed if you *did* stop.Brocnizer2007 said:I'm sorry to say, but I will not post on SDN anymore.
I just found out I am getting kicked out of NYU.
I failed a quiz last week and they said such lack of knowledge will not be tolerated here. I only missed one question about border molding on dentures. The answer was 140 degrees and I put 138 degrees for the water bath. Because of missing that question my GPA went from a 3.3 to a 1.9 and they require you to maintain a 2.0, so I got the boot. Good luck to you all.

There's no way I would pay to have nursing in any way shape or form on my degree.sahar1118 said:Hello,
I just got accepted to IU however I needed some advice.......I love IU's program (Problem based learning) but I also got into NYU. I know, I know.....these are two completely different schools. NYU seems they have better clinics and more chair time. Plus it is NEW YORK for crying out loud. I know a lot of graduates from NYU. They all say it is okay. Somebody help!!!!
