people have gotten invites.

Congratulations from a current Jefferson student! 🙂

Thanks. During my interview they mentioned that there is a students/profs orchestra. I saw you avatar. Do you know anything about that?

I've heard that Dr. Bruce Fenderson does run an orchestra. I play the violin (not the cello - I just really like Thomas Eakins), but I didn't get involved with that.

If you go to Jefferson, you'll meet Dr. Fenderson during anatomy - he teaches embryo, some histology, and a lot of the pathology stuff (2nd year). He's a nice guy and would be thrilled to have you in his orchestra.

Interview 10/10
Acceptance 10/17

I've heard Jefferson offers acceptances weekly (vs. some schools that only offer them at set intervals, usually a month or two apart) . . . is that true?

This is true. Adcom meets on Wednesdays and calls those accepted right away. I got my call exactly one week after interviewing, it appears that a 1-2 week time frame post-interview for decision is the norm.

That's great. I don't want to completely give up my violin during med school!
Thanks for the info.😉

Nice. I have an interview there next wednesday, but will be at another interview the following wednesday. Should I be lucky enough to receive an acceptance that week, I have to rely on my cell phone's voice mail not crapping out like it sometimes does (I sometimes receive voice mails that are barely understandable, usually because I was getting bad reception at the time or something).

I assume they email/snail mail you notification of acceptance too?

When I applied, 2 weeks was the average. However, it can take up to 4-5 weeks (depending on if your interviewer was able to attend the adcom meeting or not).

Snail mail. You get a nice little card.

I never got the phone call, because the phone's answering machine lost power after the call (but before I got home), and it erased all the messages on it. I got a card in the mail, though.

*Gasp!* I didn't know anything about that! One more reason I love Jefferson. I haven't done more than practice my trumpet (or my violin) since high school. I would LOVE to play in their orchestra! I am going to be sure to mention that if I'm lucky enough to get an interview 2 years from now.

I got into Jefferson yesterday. Woo-hoo!

For all you late applicants, there's still hope!

When did you interview, if you dont mind me asking

Have you heard anything yet, malicious? Does anyone know how they notify you if you're on the waitlist?

Cataract and Malicious, I also interviewed on the 23rd and I didn't hear anything yesterday. I am just hoping they are on a 2 week notification time.

No I haven't heard anything. Dr. Christian said I should hear something within 3 weeks. I'm not sure how they notify about the waitlist, maybe by snail mail?

I have my fingers crossed. I really liked Jeff.

i just got my interview invite via phone today... they apparently had the wrong email address for me and were calling to ask why i hadnt answered.. PHEW thank god they did that.. but it definitely cost me some time and i wont be interviewing until late march now.. But im definitely happy to be going.

I interviewed on the 16th too, but I haven't heard anything. Does that mean waitlist?

Hmmm...I dont know. They called me and said I was going to get a letter in the mail in a week.

Did you maybe miss the call? Is your voice mail working properly?

If not, maybe you'll be getting the letter soon.

Thats what i thought, so I called the admissions office and they said that there are some applicants who interviewed on the 16th who havent been reviewed yet. And they said they might hear next week. *fingers crossed*
Congrats to you btw! I really liked jefferson.

Yeah they did say at the interview that we would be getting responses anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. I guess I just got lucky. But anyway, there's still hope for you. Good luck! I loved Jefferson too.

I got the call today! Good luck to everyone that is still waiting.

Dr. Callahan called a few hours ago!

Congrats, malicious!

Wow. Let me say that im actually a little upset at my self for allowing me to fall in love with a school this much.

Just had my interview today and it was defintly the best interview day by far. If accepted im totally going there!

Congrats! Its a great school

First acceptance, how does it feel?

Unbelievable, still hasn't hit me. It was during a group meeting. When I tried calling friends and family, no one answered. So I said eff it and went back to my group meeting.

Are you deciding between Pitt and Jeff or some other schools now?

Well...I guess I'm just waiting until March to decide on everything because then I will at least know my options. Financial is a big factor for me also so I'll just have to wait and see. But I did really like Jeff and being close to home is definitely important.

Jefferson interviews through April. You can give them a call and ask if the class is full by your interview date.

Does that stand for Penn State Accelerated Program? Aren't those decisions way later, like March/April?

I believe there are a number of people who posted on the official rejection thread that they were rejected pre-interview.
