I feel the same way. However, there are cases where accepted people do not get a phone call. Plus, now we can hope for high priority and hope to get in that way. As hard as the wait is, I rather be on the high priority list than on the alternative list.
Plus, think about it. They had so many applicants to review. Maybe there will be calls tomorrow. I certainly hope so. I don't know about u, but i don't have any other acceptances to fall back on. So i need to keep hope up.

Likewise. I don't even have any waitlists. *sigh* This was a tough year.
If we both get in, promise to buy you a celebratory drink, be it coffee or alcohol. 😉
Still keeping hope!

thats the right attitude! thanks
I got into a DO school which i really loved (KCUMB) and i was totally content with my goign there until i walked away from my interview at Jefferson. I had interviewed at 5 other MD schools and none of them made me not want to go to KCUMB, but jefferson was different, I want to go there so badly that I almost feel like until i have a jefferson acceptance i have no acceptance. But I just need to take a step back and be patient. If i have to wait until May, if i have to wait until June, if i have to wait until July, ill be glad to if that means I get an acceptance down the road.

Ok. I'll hold you to it. 🙂
I called this morning to see if all the decisions were made yesterday. I didn't want to bother dr. callahan or dr brooks, so i called the main office. They didn't offer any insight. Just said when they decide they will let me know.
only 1 out of 40 ppl got in?
There's more than 40 for sure (April 2 and 9). But on this thread we have like 5 or 6 waiting for decisions. I think it's unlikely that only 1 out of 6 got an acceptance, but you never know because it is the end of the cycle. Plus, it can be random event that the people on this thread did not get accepted.
Not sure. I wanna call and get resolution, but I don't want to irritate anyone.
I got a waitlist email for high priority waitlist today.. This probably doesnt apply to you guys because Dr. Brooks actually told me I was reviewed before but they were slow getting the letter out to me. I interviewed on March 19th so i was before most of you guys but at least i made the high priority waitlist.. I wont give up hope.
It says that on may 15th when spaces open up again they will reevaluate me and the other high priorities, but that there are no more spaces open at the current time.
(i got an email because apparently they mailed something to a wrong address, i never responded and they wondered why)

congrats! is jeff your first choice?
So for those still wondering if Jeff made all their decisions yesterday, it seems that they have. I emailed dr. brooks regarding my status today and she was nice enough to give me a phone call back within the hour detailing what the decision was regarding my own application. So i think people should be receiving stuff in the mail shortly. If you want, you could probably email callahan or brooks and they may take the time to explain what became of your applications. Cheers

On the April 9th interview day, Dr. Brooks mentioned that typically around 60 kids in the class each year came from the waitlist. So...take that how you may. Maybe they need to go through double that to actually get their 60, but maybe less. Obviously not everyone on the waitlist who gets the acceptance actually will attend. Jefferson is a contendor for my number one (Georgetown is the other). For me it will come down to 1) if I get into Georgetown....hehe obviously and 2) where my gf winds up for law school. I really am fortunate and sorta feel bad about getting in at the very end with everyone else on high alert. When I decide what I am doing I will update the masses. Good luck guys! 🙂
Hey guys,
Still nothing here. All I did on monday was update my transcript and talk to Dr. Brooks to tell her I had done so plus what I was up to at school. That's the first time I've talked to her since being waitlisted and I don't plan on harassing them too much untill may 15th. This is pretty much my last chance. Good luck everybody.

Hey HoorayForMed, when were you put on the HP list, and did you send them updates/LOI or anything between when they put you on the waitlist and when they accepted you?
Thanks
Hey DrLuigi
I actually didn't send them anything other than say that I was still really interested in the school at the time when they offered me the chance to be on the high priority waitlist... mainly because I was in interview mode that whole month and then I got accepted somewhere else.
But, I was at the mixer tonight for second look, and a LOT of people were torn between two schools so it sounds like a lot of people may be declining their acceptances.

Good news for us lol

Thank god. Guess there's still hope. 😳
...So like... did you spread nasty rumors about how all the doctors at Jeff eat babies and hate kittens so more slots could open up for us hopefuls? 😉
...I'm... er... only half kidding...

Lol. Nope. There were more people there today, but even more people who were torn, and a few who were pretty sure they were not coming...
So I hope I see some of you next year (even though I'll have no idea who you are... yay SDN!)
🙂 Good luck!
Couldn't wait anymore. I figured that if things aren't looking good, time is running out for me to develop a backup plan since Jefferson is my only option.
Result: Waitlist. Not even high priority.
God this hurts.
Twenty-nine rejections. Only one interview. I don't know what went wrong.

This is an old post that I read from time to time when I feel like all hope is lost: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=106811. I hope it helps you at least a little bit. 🙂
Mind letting us know who you talked to?

Why would people go to second look if they're pretty sure it's not the school for them? Seems like a waste of travel expenses. I guess if you live in Philly it wouldn't be a hassle, but still.
I hope they all withdraw soon!!

Aww, thanks. Yeah, I read that post a while ago. It motivated me to:
-Write a letter of interest to Jefferson pre-interview
-Write a same-day, hand-written thank you card to my interviewer
-Write an additional letter of interest/quasi letter of intent to Dr. Callahan post-interview, pre-decision
-Write a letter of intent to Dr. Callahan post-interview, pre-decision
Hopefully it will work out in the end, but those stories are the exception, not the norm.
Just sucks because I'm leaving to go travel for two months in a few weeks and if I get into Jefferson while I'm gone, that leaves me a week to say goodbye to everyone/tie up loose ends between when I get back and when I'd be moving across the country to start school.
I mean... shoot.. I'd still take that over not getting in at all, but this is not how I pictured things unfolding.
Oh, and I spoke with Dr. Brooks. She was super, super sweet on the phone. She told me that she thinks I'll be fine (i.e. I'll still get in). Call me a cynic, but I'm thinking that's more of a "it's not you, it's me" line.

Yes, a lot of them were from Philly, and deciding between PA schools.

I think Dr. Brooks is the nicest lady in the medical school community.

Guys...I am really sympathetic with those of you on the waiting list...however I spoke with a lot of people at 2nd look and almost everybody is going to Jeff. With a class of over 250 the wait list movement will be pretty good though![]()
That doesnt seem too surprising to me, i dont know why people would go to that if they werent strongly in favor of going to the school.. travel is expensive for a college student these days!
so i got a call from dr. brooks last night after sending her an email, and apparently im on the high priority waitlist. She explained that if you are on it, hope is not lost, since they usually take around 60 ppl from that list. Just continue to call and send letters. Ack more waiting!
How many people would you guys say were at the second look events?
I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 150/160

wow.. well that would explain why you and hoorayformed had differing opinions on the general sentiment of the group.

Didn't mean to mislead. A LOT of people were very excited about Jeff and were sure they were coming (I guess 100+ by plauto's numbers? I met 35 or so who were definitely going and really really happy with that decision). But, my post was about the 25 people who were undecided between two schools, 7 more who were on waitlists who might give up their Jeff spots if they got into the other school, but otherwise would be at Jeff in August, and 4 people of the 25 who were 80-90% sure they would be attending somewhere else in August but "wanted to give Jeff a second chance" (hence "a few"). Maybe this accounts for some of the 60 people that they take from the waitlist? (Note: I was one of them!) I definitely didn't talk to everyone so it's hard to say. Also (and this may not mean anything) primarily it happened to be the girls who were still deciding.
That being said, people are very excited about Jefferson and I definitely felt good about the group of people there. Cool group to have as classmates.
even better... its just important to stay positive and to also prepare for the worst case scenario.. last year i was leaning on the crutch of 1 waitlist hoping I would get pulled off of it, and when that didnt happen, it took till sept for me to get my primary app done with the proper care and sent off. So i think it hurt me a little bit this year, especially with my late interview at jeff.. but hopefully itll work out in the end.
Anybody hear anything recently?....or is everybody just waiting for May 15th? Thought I'd bring us back up to the top. Any news or input is appreciated. Good luck to everybody who's still waiting.
No, I haven't heard anything yet. I wonder how many ppl last year did not get in off the hp list? Good luck to everyone.
Nuttin', but I'm just on the alternate list, sooo... 🙄

I've been on the High Priority Alternate list since October. Haven't heard anything, but then again I've been bad about staying in touch with them at all. Once I got my first acceptance, I became negligent as far as updating Jeff and letting them know that they were still a top choice of mine. Fortunately, my first acceptance was to my "other" top choice.
I got a call from Dr. Callahan after the April 9th interview date. So far, all I've received from Jefferson is that postcard. I was wondering if anyone that was accepted after that interview has received something else in the mail?
I'm starting to get nervous.
