The folks on the mcat thread are saying the april mcat scores will be released on June 12th or 13th. I hope they're right. Anything that brings D-(decision) Day one day closer ...

well i dont know if thats even gonna help but i want to be positive... the bryn mawr thing says that there is a 98% accepatance rate... soooo maybe 0-1 will be taken off the list...lmao... i emailed my interview and she said she doesnt know if i will come off the list, but she "hopes" ...right now i feel like i have no power to do anything but continuosly email and call and then on june 17th, i shall start doing AMCAS 2007 though I am on 4 waitlists and I think anyone who hasnt gotten in anywhere should do the same... im also gonna apply to the drexel IMP program since its like one of the only post-bacc programs whose deadline hasnt passed yet... i may even apply to an israeli med school for fun as well...lol... what are u guys doing for backups?

Are you referring to Callahan when you say "she doesn't know if i'll come off the list?" Yikes! How recently were you told that? Did she tell you where you stand on the list? Now i'm really starting to get depressed ...

Don't know what i'm gonna do if i don't get in. I don't know if i can do this again and wait yet another year ... 🙁

this is what my interviewer wrote:

....You most certainly are on the "high priority" waitlist. I don't know if you will be accepted this year since I am not sure if any students have withdrawn lately or if any intend to do so in the next few weeks. However, we will be "hopeful." ...

so ur a reapplicant?

No, not a reapplicant ... although my choice of words makes it sound like that.

I don't know that i'd necessarily put too much stock in what the interviewer says. He may or may not know the situation re withdrawals, watilist, etc. If that came from Callahan, well ... different story. Don't give up hope!

ya...it does sound like im losing hope... but i have to accept the fact that if i dont get in, which seems perfectly plausible at this time, that i have to reapply and seemingly waste a yr, but i could just think that i deffered a year and have a year to do whatever i please before going off to med school

Hi Everyone,

I got off the waitlist at another school and just withdrew from the high priority waitlist at Jefferson. I am hopeful that every little bit helps.

Best of luck to all of you!

Finally ... movement on the wait list! Unfortunately, it was initated by an applicant rather than by Jefferson.   Now if we can just get Jefferson to initiate the wait list movement ... 🙂

It's going to be real depressing if June comes and goes without seeing "Thomas Jefferson University" on my called id when the phone rings. Then it's on to "Plan B" - as soon as I figure out what Plan B is. I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Scrappy, congrats on getting in somewhere and thanks for making the high priority list one person shorter.

My plan B is reapplication, apply to DO schools and carribean schools though so carribean schools dont seem too shabby like Ross University

Yea, thanks for posting scrappy37... congratulations of your acceptance else where. If anyone on this thread gets accepted from the High Priority WL or even the alternate category WL please post ASAP... thanks!

Yeah, that really sucks. It looks like the only way June 15 is going to mean anything is if some of those holding multiple accepts opt to go elsewhere and open up a spot or two. 🙁

danesh, didn't you say that you are four waitlists? how is it looking at your other schools?

well... meharry medical college starts on june 19th, though it is lower tier, i would eagerly accept an acceptance and go there, they just dont have great residency matches, so whatever but I am not a minority and its a historically black insitution so its really a long shot

Medical University of Ohio, which will change its name to the University of Toledo etc, I am on the top of the medium priority list, which means something by mid-july if enough people drop from the out of state list, this school is of course great but their just seems like there is something wrong with the city of toledo

Michigan State University- unranked like Jefferson but I have no idea but its my 2nd choice and the waitlist moved only slight so I dont know

so there ya go, how bout you and the rest of the SDNers

I'm down to Jeff and Drexel as my last hopes. Haven't heard anything from Drexel yet, but their AdCom is apparently way behind. This late in the game, probably wait list at Drexel at best. 🙁

By the way, there is something wrong with Toledo ... it's in Ohio

ohio is that bad? i just know its damn cold, or is the entire state backwards and boring? i stayed in downtown toledo, it seemed nice when i arrived but i figured it was a ghost town after a few hours, at like 12 pm there is nobody in downtown toledo, you can hear a pindrop...lol, but i will be in med school there if i go so its not like i will do much stuff in toledo to begin with

When will Jeff get the scores of the "special program" applicants they are waiting for? The AAMC site says scores will be available on June 20. But many folks on the MCAT thread have called and been told the scores will be available online on the 12th or 13th. Do med schools only get the scores in the mail (i.e., they won't have until sometime after the 20th) or will they have them sooner if the scores are online on the 12th or 13th? Anyone have a clue?

Pondering such questions is how i'm spending my Saturday night. Pretty pathetic. 🙁

i believe that aamc will tell jefferson when the scores are available... i think that it will be the 20th because thats what it says on aamc... i really dont know how you would get them a week early...unless the aamc site is lying...it says April 2006 MCAT scores will be available Tuesday, June 20.... so i dunno what those sdners mean by it... also, i dont think many people will do bad on those special programs, they seem pretty darn competetive and it seems it requires a lot to get into and it says 98% acceptance rate into medical school so maybe like 0-1 and 2 at most spots will be available, so i dont think its really reliable to wait for that... i am also applying to drexel's imp program, the deadline is like july 9th, so take a look at that, it seems like a plausible backup.. i just have finals this week and its so hard to concentrate when june 15th is right around the corner and i keep looking at my cell every minute...lol

anybody hear anything today? its getting verrrry close to June 15th

Nothing here. 🙁 But, I'm not expecting to hear anything before the end of June.

Here's my take on the situation. It seems we have two chances to get off the wait list. First, some of those holding multiple accepts opt to go elsewhere (by June 15). Second, some of those in the "special programs" don't score high enough on the mcat (June 20 online score release). There are probably not a lot of "multiple accepts." The vast majority of people made a decision by the May 15 deadline. There are probably only a few stragglers who were waiting for financial aid info, etc. Therefore, I'm not optimistic that many spots are going to open come June 15 - maybe 1 or 2 at most - maybe none. With respect to the "special program" people, by the time Jeff receives, processes, and acts on their mcat scores (remember they're not going to be mailed to Jeff until the 20th or after), we're probably looking at the end of June at the very earliest. More likely well into July. 🙁

Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but I don't think we're going to hear anything for a few more weeks. 🙁

Danesh, are you still calling and emailing Jeff every week? If you get any new info, please post it for your fellow sufferers.

well, calling twice a week and emailing once a week... starting to look at my personal statement to tweek it a bit and then send out aamc 2007... REALLY SUCKS

i withdrew from the waitlist (high priority) last week but trust me, i feel your pain. when i was in contact with dean callahan (emailing once a week or so) i specifically asked her if i could speak with her about my application. she was out of town but seemed receptive to speaking with me on the phone. maybe you could try that? or if any of you are in the philly area maybe you could ask her if you could meet in person to discuss you app? i think that the adcom doesn't meet on a regular basis anymore (i'm not positive about this) which makes her all the more important. i'm sorry i can't offer more concrete advice but it can't hurt for her to be able to put a face or voice to the name.

best of luck!

i called the dean's office, they basically told me to go away and call the other #, what do you do get through to callahan?

you guys are emailing dean callahan directly, right? email her and ask her if you can speak with her regarding the status of your application and set up a date/time with her. she can let her office know so they put it on her calendar and patch you through when you call.

has anyone tried this who could weigh in? i only went as far as having her confirm i could speak with her over the phone, i didn't actually set it up...

good luck!

I'm on the high priority waitlist. I've been calling the admissions office and sent a letter of intent.

I emailed Dr. Callahan and this is what she had to say:

It has been a strange year, but this point it seems that nothing will happen
with the wait list before June 20, the day that we are supposed to get the
April MCAT scores. We have more people than usual in our special programs
and I have to save spots for them if they
make the score that they need for acceptance. I can't believe that there
won't be spots, but it's going to take a little more time to sort out.
I'm sorry that it is taking so long, but I don't have a lot of control over
it.

...So it looks like June 20th is the new date to look forward to

LMAO.... i remember getting my mcat scores a few days early last april... boo on amcas for being late... well at least its good to know that the class is far from full for the time being... but i dont think there will be more than a few spots open on june 20th unless there is a major catastrophe of some sort where everyone in the program does poorly

Yeah, and if she's referring to the Bryn Mawr program, don't count on too many bad mcat scores coming from those folks. 🙁

June 20 .... one more week!

mcat scores will be out tomorrow. Good luck everyone. Let's hope someones phone rings. If anyone hears, post and let us know

I still haven't heard anything from Jefferson. I'm starting to think I won't either. But we'll see. As of now, I'm counting on PCOM. Good Luck!

Now that the April mcat scores are out there should be some movement on the wait list ... by the end of the month ... i hope

Someone from the post-bac program posted in the Jefferson Class Thread that he was admitted to Jefferson today. Let's hope there's still a few spots left over for us waitlisters when they're done with their "special program" people.

At least something is happening at Jefferson.

Well, you obviously missed the point. Nothing will happen for us until they work their way through these people. So at least that process has started. The sooner that process ends, the sooner they will know how many people they can take off the waitlist.

That's more than has been happening at Jefferson for the past month, isn't it?????

can anyone who was waitlisted or got accepted to jeff state your stats if you dont mind. thanx a bunch

So has anyone heard anything new? Whats the word?

I heard nothing....has anyone tried calling Callahan?

sorry guys, this is kinda off, but I have a question about Jefferson

They say on their application that they need letters from Physics,Chem,Bio and Humanaties professors.
I have all of them but Physics. I mean I took each one of my physics with a different professors, also my Chem letter is from my Biochem professor, so do you guys think that's ok??
Do I really need a letter from one of those physics professors??

Has anyone heard anything from Jefferson? Anyone been in touch with Callahan recently? It's seems awwfullly quiet ...

According to Dr. Callahan, "the class is currently full, but that may change and the game is not over"

Well, at this late date I guess that doesn't surprise me. Still, depressing news ... 🙁

Wow. This thread sunk to page 10. I guess most people have given up hope on Jefferson. I think I have. Despite Dr. Callahan's statement that "the game is not over," I think it is except for maybe the top one or two people on the waitlist - and I'm not so sure they're going to make it either. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't sense there's going to be much, if any, waitlist movement.

Good luck to all my fellow "high priority" waitlisters in whatever you end up doing. I don't know if I have the stomach to do this whole med school application thing all over again and wait another year. If anyone does get in, post and let us know so we can all be insanely jealous of you.

Has anyone heard anything at all from Jefferson? Has anyone gotten off the waitlist in the past week or so? I'm starting to think the game is over. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Unfortunately, all signs at this point pretty much point to the game being over. I'm almost done with my 2007 amcas, and am working on finding a research position for next year, but I'm still hoping to get off Jeff, Northwestern or Wayne State's waitlist. Good luck.
