July 13 MCAT Score DELAY

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You know, a lot of people say that, and it annoys me, just a little. Yes, we are being a tad bit paranoid, and perhaps we could be a lot more calm. But everyone deals with things in their own way, and instead of mocking others, perhaps a bit of empathy would be appreciated.

Besides, I'm sure it's the best time to judge someone's character when they're awaiting scores for one of the most important tests in their lives...

I'm waiting too, patiently. Ya know, you won't make it very far as a doctor if you don't have patience!

:meanie:

I know what you're trying to say..but I just think it's a blanket assumption that just because people aren't patient about scores, they will be bad doctors. Obviously, you're going to be in a different mindset when you're making decisions affecting people's lives.

haha i'm at work trying to weigh 20 mgs of sample and my hand is shaking to death :scared:

/grumble. i kind of hate people telling me to have patience. let me deal with it in my own way, and you yours. >.> i mean, i didnt mind redsunlion's post (i actually found it amusing), but...i guess this seems kind of condescending. i dunno, maybe i'm just fussy...

Dulcina: I totally agree with you; I really dislike it when people try to placate me. Everyone says, "Have patience! You'll get them when you get them!"

Whatever; the majority of people who tell me these things (my parents), generally tend to have no idea what it is to take such a high-stakes test like the MCAT.

However, to play the devil's advocate, I can somewhat deduce that they're have been a multitude of exams given in August compared to July and June, so yes, they are a little busier than before. However, whose fault is that? Um, the AAMC. We are the guinea pigs, it seems, as we're the first to have this 'computerized' MCAT hit us. And everyone knows the first ones through the cycle get screwed.

Yup, the guinea pigs always die; we're the guinea pigs.

FLyinTiger you are working at a lab as well? Everybody at my lab knows I wrote the MCAT and want me to tell them my score...If I do badly I wanted to see the score privately in my own home so I get some mourning time. Yikes

blah blah...but I just think it's a blanket assumption that just because people aren't patient about scores, they will be bad doctors...blah blah

You missed the joke. You sadden me. 🙁

yea i'm an intern at Pfizer

lol...don't get it on the keyboard..that would suck 🙂

haha yea... i just check SDN on ocassion but I weigh the samples under the hood away from the keyboard 😉 Kinda keeps my mind off of the score. I just need this to end!!!

Excellent! One less person pressing "refresh" every 2 seconds on THx. While you're down there look for your sense of humor 😛

Woah! Big pharma...that's an excellent job before med school. You get an inside look at your future enemy. lol.

I feel it, I'm out of the lab, but I try to keep my latte away from my keyboard. I think if I do get the score either way I might spill something.

its my first time here, but just to let you know I just talked to AAMC and they said scores will be released by the 17th and 5 pm and if there is another delay it will be posted on the website!!!!😕

BY the 17th or ON the 17th? Meh, I'm not checking anymore until 5 p.m. on the 17th then.

If there is another delay they might have to bring in the national guard.

I tried questioning her as to if it was on the 17th at 5 or by the 17th at 5 and she just just by the 17th and then informed me of the posting if there is another delay. SorrY! I am anxious too

Well, to save us some anxiety, I suggest checking SDN once in a while because there will be people checking thx and letting us know and then check madly on thx late Friday afternoon close to 5 p.m. GOOD LUCK, we're almost there, good or bad...

Why another F***** delay??
even the vote over the presidency didn't take that much to get the results out

wow you people are so excited for your scores. I was super calm when I took the MCAT and am even more chill while I am waiting for my scores. I didn't even log into aamc until 10pm last night. It's not even phasing me, I already took the test so there is nothing more I can do to change my score. When I get them..I will get them!

I am sure all the amcas people are just sitting there mocking us and laughing at us all, a bunch of stereotypical neurotic pre-meds. Maybe we should use this as a time to revisit ourselves. You realize, there are going to be times throughout our entire careers as MD's where we will be anxiously awaiting test scores, exam scores, residency placements, new jobs, etc...this is only the very very beginning.

Speak for yourself, I'm going to be a DO and DO's do NOT wait for test scores, we manipulate them.

apparently this wasn't the right forum for understanding sarcasm, and for that I empathise with you. But I disagree...this is a humanitarian crisis that only the UN can handle. Some MRE's and a peacekeeping force would be a bit more helpful...

the wait isn't the bad part.. and yes i know they said to expect the scores around the 15th.. thats not what sucks. its the fact that when the 15th approaches, give us a real date and time. they managed to do that for every other test administered and they called those dates in advance. obviously we dont know what they're doing.. but hopefully they do and they should just say ok here's when we will give them.

hell just say the 17th if you have to and just give them to us tmrw then even if u do somehow finish up at 4PM today. just go ahead and pick a time and date and give them out

I'll have to jump on Sundarban's bandwagon. Use some OMM on that MCAT to twist it into a pretzel. I am sure the release date for the 24th will be delayed as well. 👎

haha are you really running a column in your lab? I thuoght you were working in an immunology lab unless I'm thinking of a different column... me and my chemistry

Thats exactly what I've been thinking all along!! At least if they just tell us a time and date, that keeps us from continually checking. I'm trying very hard not to check and to remain peaceful about this, but realistically, it is not working well!

Me: "I know you guys have been asked this a million times by now, but what is the new expected score release time for the July 13th administration?"

AAMC Guy: "Hopefully, they'll be out by this evening, but it may be later at night or at the latest tomarrow."

thanks for the clarification.

LOL

... or Saturday or maybe even Sunday when were not working, but at the latest Monday, maybe even early Tuesday. Though I know 100% sure by next Friday.

ok so most of us can agree this is annoying and sucks but we're reasonable people and we can give them a little time if they need.. i suppose..

but at what point is it going to piss you off beyond return?? well for me, that point is if these idiots end up releasing the July 24th score before ours.

That would be cool. "Oops we sent out the July 24th scores instead"

That would make my day.

Well...there seems to be several things wrong with this whole situation. Most importantly the AAMC is in DC...which is where all of the legislature resides. We all know that the legislature is never in a hurry unless they have their own agenda. Tell me again why should we expect any different from the AAMC.
Our scores do not directly effect them. However, if AAMC employees were bonused on timely test score releases then you bet your ass we would prob have our scores a day early. So, it is the same ole political bull****...and medicine is full of it.

Next time someone calls AAMC, ask whats going on to make this happen, I'm more curiious about that then getting the release time. Now, back to the cryostat, Ive got to rip through some tissue.

me too.. could they be actually making a scale with the july 13 and 24 tests? is that allowed?

lol yeah but i have to separate antibodies using a magnetic separation column duh!

no way.
the scales are per each administration for each different form theyadministered.

if you had test A on 13th, then you will have that curve
if you had test B on 13th, you will be curved different

Thanks for the quote, now that's a real good laugh. Hope is a nice thing to have, non?

I just wanted to know which of these crazy secondaries with all these extra essays I could just toss aside and not bother with...

So if the delay is because scores are not ready, i can imagine things will only get worse. There have been 4 test dates in the past week and a half...
