For those of you that got interview invites to Tufts, do you have a change on you application status page?

Has anyone even mentioned a Tufts interview yet?

EDIT: whoops, just saw the interviews page...now I'm annoyed I haven't heard anything yet. ALthough I'm hoping that since there's no decision yet on their website, I haven't been outright rejected just yet.

Rejected from Minnesota. 🙁

Today in the mail I got a letter from Iowa State. It was an exact duplicate of the email they sent me inviting me to interview. But I didn't know that (didn't imagine they'd send it both ways), so sat there trying to figure out what it could be. Rejection or acceptance seemed wrong since they had just invited me to interview. Anyway, to add to the list of heartstopping emails, add this heartstopping letter.

Sheesh. Either we all need to toughen up (probably) or these schools need to be more sensitive of our nerves!😀 (Though now I feel like the mother in Pride and Prejudice, complaining about my nerves.😛)

Thanks Elvismarie, still have 6 more schools including my instate 🙂

i'm sorry shuvball - you've still got texas, though!

other news: for the penn interview... we need to bring a recent picture... can there be an animal in it? sounds, weird, but my school doesn't do senior portraits or anything like that and there's a nice picture of me and a kitten that i would love to submit - similar to the kids whose high school pictures are of them and a horse...

You can go to any place that does passport photos. They are pretty cheap.

Chris, just so you know, in my passport photo I look like a Russian male terrorist, in my ISIC card I look like an eastern European refugee, in my drivers license I look like a witch, and in my school ID I look like a crack addict (none of these looks are particularly flattering, by the way). So I'm really not photogenic and try to avoid the passport places!

i had my penn interview yesterday. i had my little sister take a photo of me the other day and then had it printed. the photo i turned in was about 2.5" x 4" but when i got to the actual interview (they collected the photos when we first arrived) it had been cropped down to about 1.5" x 1.5". so, it probably doesn't matter if there's any animal in it because it will probably get dropped down to just your face.

I don't remember if there were any specific instructions or not. I used a photo of me and my family's poodle Remington that the folks at the vet clinic took for me and that seemed fine. I guess it was ok???? 🙂 At least, nothing was said to me that it was unacceptable..

no but it can include alcohol and/or drugs as long as you look hot in it

Im 99% sure they only use the photo to help remember who you were when looking at your file and making decisions post interview so any (appropriate) picture that still looks like you should be fine.

ok sweet, so now i just need to decide which one to use. is there a preference for harder drugs? i'm OOS so i could use all the help i can get.

Yeah I'd go for the harder drugs... bigger shock value and it will make you more memorable.

So we should be snorting a line of coke?

Or could we just copy the last Cobra Starship video and do flour instead?

That's kind of risky - they say adcoms can tell when you're lying - what if they asked you about it? It would be horrible to get rejected over something so silly.

They get coke all the time. I'd go for a pic of you shooting up...extra points if you're holding the leather strap in your teeth.

Like banditalfi suggested, make sure you have your track marks exposed to prove it. Otherwise it's like saying you're going into farm animal medicine without any LA experience to back it up.

Haha... exactly. That is what we've been trying to say - if you are going into an area back it up! If not, don't talk about it in your personal statement.

Does anyone know when UPenn's Large Animal interview week is? The suspense is absolutely killing me...
I've also noticed that a lot of people hear back about being accepted from Penn the night of their interview. Do they inform everyone of their decision that day, or just the applicants with really high scores? Vet school application is going to give me an ulcer...

Last year, my LA interview was the first friday in February.

When an applicant hears back depends on the interviewers. I heard back from mine at dinner that night soon after we had gotten back from New Bolton, but one of my housemates had to wait until the acceptance letter came two weeks later.

Feb. 1 is a small animal interview day this year. There are multiple large animal interview days, so don't freak out about it. They won't be until later in february.

Just got back to my school address and found my rejection from Minnesota....

Yeah, I was away for the weekend and just came back and saw that... now I'm getting even more anxious! :scared:

Just out of curiousity, how many of you are sick of hearing from friends, family, professors, colleagues, "You should definately get in somewhere, you're a shoe-in..."? Don't get me wrong, support is great to have, but what if I DON'T get in? It seems like it will be all the more dissapointing. Especially the prospect of telling all the afore-mentioned people that I was indeed NOT a shoe-in.
Sometimes I think it's better to have low expectations and then end up pleasently surprised, than to be confident and then have everything come crashing down around you. There are times when I think I want to punch the next person who tells me I will "Definately be accepted"...
Is there anyone else who feels this way or am I going crazy from anxiety?

I hear you. Just take it with a grain of salt. Applications are in and all we can do it wait. And wait...and wait. There is seemingly no rhyme or reason to why we get an interview one place and not another. Things happen how they are supposed to. 🙂

Relax and enjoy the ride. Ha ha-- just kidding. I'm not a blind optimist. Yes, it sucks- the waiting, agonizing, anxiety. But we really cannot do anything about it now. I just don't talk about it with anyone because I don't need to get my hopes up. Best of luck and just try to relax! 😀

I agree- I really believe you end up where you end for a reason.🙂

I completely agree. My top choices were Cornell and Ohio, but I got rejected from both. However, I did get into Penn; and after learning more about Philadelphia, the vet school, and its cirriculum, I couldn't be happier with where I ended up.

I don't just hear that from anyone--I get it from my brother, who thinks that applying to vet school is just like applying to med school, and unfortunately I've proved him wrong in two cases. I don't understand why he couldn't believe me when I told him myself. And the worst thing is that NOW he thinks he can act all high and mighty, because I only applied to 7 schools instead of the 28 (YES, that's right, he wanted me to apply to ALL of them), or even the minimum of 10 like he said, and that I shouldn't waste my break and I should be actively looking for jobs for next year in case I don't get in anywhere. On the one hand, I know I need to have a plan B, but on the other hand, I just want him to leave me alone!

I am so sick of hearing about Plan B. I am pretty sure that I am not going to get in this cycle (seeing everyone else's qualifications has just blown me away) but my dad and friends keep asking me what my Plan B is. They make me feel like a failure when 1 - not only isn't the cycle completely over but 2 - it is only my first time applying and 3 - you think I need them to make me feel worse? I say all that but what invariably follows is, "well, what if you never get in?" Thanks, folks, you just keep kicking my fragile ego 😕.

It sounds like they all mean well, but their timing leaves something to be desired.

I have pretty good (average admitted) qualifications, but plan B comes up in every conversation. People think it's their lawful duty to ask me whether I have a plan B. I have a couple, it doesn't mean I want to talk about them right now when I'm in the middle of the cycle! Seriously, next person who is going to ask me about plan B is going to here: "well, it's between jumping off the bridge and becoming a stripper to save money..." 😀😀😀

I'm with you on that one. Do you mind if I borrow that?

rejected from minnesota!

Welcome to the club! I just called them and left a message, asking if I could discuss my application with someone. There was no one in admissions, but at least the people in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs were really nice.

LOL. I don't mind at all.
P.S. I just noticed I wrote here instead of hear. That's how stressed out I am.🙂

It sounds like these people are just trying to be realistic albeit insensitive...
I think that they know how distraught we are during this time and believe that despite rejections having come in, positive support is all that they can do to help ease our harrowing feelings. Of course we don't want to think about plan B, but we also can't rule out the fact that it might have to take its course.
I actually feel pretty grateful that my family has offered me nothing but encouragement, and has not yet mentioned what my plan B might be. To be quite honest, I don't even want to think about it until that time comes.....

Actually I was asked in every interview what my plan B was. It was getting a graduate degree in nutrition as well as reapplying. It's just smart to think about it in case you get asked in that situation. But everyone is going to get in!!!!! 😀

No, it's not like I (we) DON'T have one, it's just getting annoying discussing it with everyone. In my humble experience (first year applicant, non-traditional), I only came across two kinds of responses: "You will definitely get in!" and "Well, not that you won't get in, but what is your plan B?". I prefer to just answer "we'll see" to both. I have a plan B: two different 1-year research programs, which also pay, so I could save some money for vet. school as well as get more research experience. But discussing it now is pointless: just makes me more nervous. Nothing to do but wait.😎

Did anyone else's heart drop when they got an email from ISU today?? It was just financial aid info though....no good news yet!

How long did it take to receive notification of a decision those of you that had interviews last month and before?

After being there, I realized how much I liked it and I really would love to go there so I am anxious to hear back!

A lurker delurking 🙂

I got an interview with Purdue today (YAY!) my first piece of information. Still waiting on Tennessee, anything from Auburn, and NCSU of course.

I'm equine interest, so we'll see - this is my 2nd round of apps so... let's just say I am more nervous this time than last! I got a job as the only tech in a 1 vet mobile equine practice that has truly CHANGED my life - and wouldn't have gotten it without NOT getting in last time. But I don't want to go through it again!

I don't know about ya'll (I may live in MN but was born in Kentucky!) but I'm keeping EVERY rejection letter I get! May even frame the first one. That way when I am a successful vet, I can write each school and say "remember stamping REJECTION across my application? Oh wait, I bet you don't. But baby, take a look at me now!" 😉

Keep in mind sometimes no news is GOOD news!

Speaking of which, has anyone heard from Tennessee at all?

The only thing I heard form them was during my break from school that they wanted me to email them a copy of my GRE scores....nothing since then....

Yeah, I just got a response "we got your gre scores" from Ms. Shepherd when I faxed them over. Hopefully, soon...

Hmmm...maybe the missing GRE scores slowed down their whole schedule.

Tennessee won't get back to you until Februrary most likely. Interviews are over our spring break (March 17-21) but if I remember correctly from last year, I didn't have much notice (I in fact had to change spring break plans). Last year, they emailed then mailed out a hard copy of the same thing.
