Just wondering if anyone has suggestions of reading material on current issues in veterinary medicine. I'd particularly like to find material related to small animals or exotics as I have a pretty strong large animal background, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm looking for slightly more technical science-based articles (like The Horse, for those familiar with the magazine) both for my own knowledge and because I think it may be helpful way to prepare for interviews.

Thanks!

You might start by perusing the AVMA web site: http://www.avma.org/

That will give you an idea of what types of issues are important to the industry right now. I would expect some interview questions to come out of some of the press releases and position statements you'll find there.

You might also visit the CDC web site to get an idea of what zoonotic diseases are being given high priority.

Those were good suggestions, critterfixer. Does anyone else have any other suggestions for good reading material? Specifically on current hot topics in vet med?

(BTW, in terms of generally cool reading material, I was reading an article about colic today which listed crimped hay as a feed that could increase the likelihood of colic (depending upon what region of the country you're in/the hay comes from) because of the potential for blister beetles being crushed inside the hay and causing GI irritation, etc. Not knowing what crimped hay was, I went searching and found this remarkably interesting article on hay production: http://www.sheepscreek.com/rural/hay.html .)

My favorite source for current issues in vet med is DVM Magazine. I have a free subscription, but you can also access it online.
