Who else is agonizing over some last minute changes?

$hit, i just need to disconnect my internet b4 I make a big mistake or something. Luckily, my top 5 are set in stone so anything I do [crosses fingers] won't make difference.

Somebody order me up a B-52 STat!

I'm in the same boat my friend.

tried to do all my last minute thinking yesterday.. but it's hard to resist. Mainly just logging into NRMP to make sure it still says, "Certified ROL"

Ugh i wanted to check one last time to make sure the list had been certified and everything is good to go. I'm pretty sure it's certified because I certify it everytime i change the ranks but I would have liked to check it one last time.

Eh...I'm sure it'll be back up eventually, right? ......Right?? 😀

hope so, I need to check it still says "certified ROL" in green to appease my OCD..

Why the hell is NRMP down! Need to obsessively check whether or not I certified my list last time I moved programs around. 99% sure that I certified, but I can just imagine that people who haven't certified it yet are freakin out.

I'm in the same boat, I'm 99% sure it's the 1% that's freaking me out!

Because of all the yahoos like you who "just need to check" their certification status.

It happens every year on the ROL deadline date...it's basically a coordinated but unintentional DDOS attack... which is why everyone tells you not to wait until the last day to enter/change/check your ROL. It's also why most programs were done with this a week or so ago.

Better now than during the Scramble...like what happened last year.

It can always be worse.

Damn it's gonna get back up right????

Anyone know if they will extend the deadline if the thing isn't up by tonight?

We are all anxious medical students. And many of us are a little obsessive. It's one of the things that got us to this point. There is no stopping the "yahoos" that just need to check it.

And if it happens every year, then they damn well should be prepared for it!!!

i spoke with them on the phone and they said they are trying to have it up within the hour.

and yes i am one who hasn't certified yet. freaking out for sure.

We pay money for these services, they should be prepared. I checked mine earlier, but I still wanted to check one more time. I do like the usage of the word yahoo in this thread.

Incredible. I haven't certified it too!

I cannot believe I didn't think about possible website overload. If I'm unable to certify the list, I'll probably be the only guy ever in the history to mess up his residency just because of this reason.

i'll be there with you brother. 🙁 Im freaking out right now even though the lady on the phone said IT WILL BE UP

on the other hand, i logged into and ranked all my canadian stuff yesterday (the deadline day) without any issue.

50$ each and they couldn't even set up a parallel server? How many total people are ranking this year? And multiply that number by 50$ (not to mention those who paid late fees)

I certified my list just yesterday, but I want to be 100% confidant I didn't screw up or accidently by have it uncertified. I can feel the anxiety for all of us.

I haven't certified, and no one will even answer the phone anymore. You get a recording stating that the server is down. It's entirely unacceptable to enforce a 9PM deadline if you don't even have your server available for certification of lists at 9PM.

argggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhh

You should have gotten an email saying that it was certified. If people who have already certified would stop trying to log on then maybe they can fix this problem sooner for the sake of people who still need to certify.

It's working. Go ahead and certify now.

It's up! I'm certified and done, not gonna touch it anymore

I realize this is a moot point now, but I had to respond anyway. It is not unacceptable at all. We all had ~5 weeks to rank and certify our lists, and when you sign up and pay it clearly says the deadline will be enforced no matter what. If someone waits until the last second and the server goes down, it is their own fault. Why wouldn't everyone at least put in and certify a preliminary ROL just in case that should happen? I would think that with the overwhelming number of Type A personalities seen in this field, more people would plan ahead.

Seems simple enough, doesn't it? 😕

I can see why you're going into obgyn...

What does that mean?

Probably the stereotypical ...

Hahahahaha okay trust me, I'm not like that at all. I didn't fit in with one of the programs I rotated with because I wasn't a massive b*tch. Anyway, I don't think this applies because the match is one of the most important moments in our professional lives and to put it off for 5 weeks and ASSUME everything will be okay is just stupid.

Some people didn't finish interviewing until a week or two into February. I didn't have my final one until February 11th.

I agree that it's smart to have a preliminary ROL certified and I certainly did.

I started ranking before I was even done with interviews and it still took me until the Tuesday before to settle on my final list (plus my 4 supplemental lists). I didn't make any changes on the last day but if I wanted to I shouldn't have had to deal with the server being down.

It means that, in your post above, you displayed an astonishing lack of understanding of the humanity of others, and that this is an attitude, and personality flaw, that is rampant among obgyn's.

I didn't realize that to value preparedness and getting something that is crucial to your livelihood (and which you have worked towards for the past several years) done in a reasonable amount of time is to lack understanding of humanity. I must be an alien since I planned ahead. Maybe I'm not infinitely understanding of other people's inability to plan for unforeseen circumstances, but at least I didn't almost have a heart attack on Wednesday because I was too busy/distracted/lazy/stupid to take 5 minutes to submit and certify a preliminary list.

Can we all just agree that yes, being prepared is a virtue, and that yes, the NRMP should be better prepared to handle large volumes of users?

Any further discussion about a particular person's attitudes towards this whole thing can be taken to PMs. Thanks.

I agree with you. I wasn't the person who attacked someone personally.

Meh... beats Twilight.

I agree that we all should be prepared, and I had a preliminary rank list in a couple weeks ahead of the deadline. The day of the rank list I had some last minute doubts about my list and wanted to make some changes, but I was scared to do so because the website kept crashing. I was afraid that in between editing my current list and certifying the new one, the website would crash, and I would be left without anything in at 9PM.... So, I ended up leaving my list in its preliminary order.

So, I think that even if you're responsible enough to put something in, the website crashing can create problems....

Of course, some people would argue that I should have been prepared enough to have my second thoughts a week before the deadline as well.

It probably worked out better for you. They say last minute changes are a bad idea.
