I interviewed on 10/12 and got my acceptance letter in the mail 11/17! It was mailed 11/13.

I was complete Oct 10th and there hasn't been any change since then. I haven't sent in my official transcripts yet (the only thing not checked off on my status page) because it says that only students invited for an interview need to send them. It doesn't say anything about my status though... so I just wait to hear if I get an interview?

It seems like every other webpage says something about "your app is in review" but I dont see that anywhere on the UW page, right?

UW's status page isn't really a useful status page... and yes, they will email you if you get an interview.

Anybody know how many slots UW has filled thus far (filled slots / total class slots)? I just submitted my secondary and I'm hoping I'm not too late to get an interview.

Just guessing but I would guess they have filled no more than 20 percent of the class, but a lot of ppl have interviewed w/o a decision being made yet.

It seems to me they have only done 1 mailing so far. The first batch of letters went out 11/13, and to the best of my knowledge none have been mailed since. Who knows how many there were in that first set.

I know some people who interviewed on my interview date who haven't yet heard (Oct 5) and they said the committee hadn't made a decision on them yet. I think for people in the first groups, it's more of a matter of the committee getting around to your applications because the interview groups were bigger. When I stopped by Admissions to pick up my acceptance letter, the interview group that was there was only about 10 people, so much smaller then the 25+ people that interviewed early.

I interviewed Oct 12 and still have not heard either. I called last week and was told that my file had not been brought before the committee yet...and I hope you are right about hearing by the end of the week!! All this waiting is very stressful..but in essence, i suppose it teaches me something 🙂

Maybe, our tour group was two guys and two girls led by an Asian MCW 2nd year... both girls said they'd already interviewed at UW and I mentioned that I'd picked up my letter from UW that morning. I was the Asian guy who was talking with the other guy in our group about WI HS football heh

It would be one thing if they had told us 8-10 weeks... it's a whole other thing when they tell us 4-6 weeks and we still haven't heard at week 8 (or 9 for those who interviewed on the 5th). WHAT IS THE DEAL??? My mom likes to believe that they are putting together scholarship packages for those who haven't heard - ha, unfortunately I'm not quite as optimistic. I'm worried.

i hope your mom is right.

i always worry when my close family members are ridiculously optimistic like that, it usually means they're worried too but don't want me to sense it.

i really feel like they're trying to decide whether to wl or reject me, or just haven't sent rejection letters yet so i'll hear when they finally get around to that.

I agree, its the fact that others heard so quickly (and ALL got accepted) while others haven't heard anything and so much time has passed... I know its hard to stay optimistic, but they did say that they randomly select applicants to go to committee, so it is possible ours just didn't pop up yet. Also I think the secondary application deadline was Dec. 1st and the office has been extremely busy the last few weeks. Maybe that is why letters have been going out slowly. Who knows; just don't give up hope yet. 🙂

so i seem to remember that the letters that everyone else has received have been dated on a wednesday (maybe??? is this true???)

if so, perhaps letters were sent out today/will be sent out tomorrow...

btw, has ANYONE gotten a hold of someone in the admissions office? if so, what's the secret????

Hey guys--those of you waiting to hear sound just like me last week--remember, I JUST got my letter a few days ago...so do nto lose hope!!! If you interviewed as early as we all did, that means we were all doing something right!! I think it comes down to when your committee member brings you to the committee, and I am sure the insanity over Dec 1 did not help anything--or the Thanksgiving holiday, for that matter. My letter was dated Nov 28.
And, in regards to calling admissions, I honestly think they lack ringers on the phones in there!!! Of the probably close to 20 times I tried to call them, I had someone answer the phone ONCE!!! And, I even varied the times I called and everything! Good luck to all of you waiting and I am hoping you get some good news soon!!!!!

I got a post-interview waitlist letter today. It's a little bit of a blow, because I had high hopes with my state school. Ah, well! Here's to the rest of the cycle.

You have to call Beth directly if you want to get a hold of anyone and even then it's still hard to get a hold of her!

Therefore it will be at a future date when you will again hear from the adcom about their decision... etc.." Is this what others recieved as well? I'm not sure what to make of this. 😕 At least it isn't a rejection 🙂

I also received that letter. It was a bit of a shock but what can you do.
I emailed Lucy and she told me that the letter means they are going to review your application again at a later point and then possibly put you on the waitlist. It also means
that you will not be receiving an offer outright.

I was really surprised. I figured with a 35R, a MS in Bacteriology from UW, and three years working at Meriter Hospital I'd have a pretty good shot, especially as an instate resident. I interviewed on October 5th.

So tocems, are you saying that this "we'll get back to you later" letter is actually worse than getting waitlisted b/c it is only at a future date they might decide to offer us a spot on the waitlist?? If that is the case, this is quite depressing. 🙁

This is a portion of the email I received from Lucy:

"Your application has been fully reviewed. Early in the season we sometimes place some review decisions on hold. This is the situation this year and your application falls in such a group. At a future date the committee will decide whether or not they will place you on the alternate list. It is evident that they will not make an outright offer."

I received the ambiguous letter from UW on 12/5, and this is the response I got from Lucy when I asked her to clarify it a bit. Mind you, she was very nice to do so. Now, there may be various "review groups" and my response from Lucy might be unique to my situation. Read into it how you will. I read it as a rejection letter (getting onto the waitlist of the waitlist = rejection in my book...but I dislike being jerked around).
