LECOM Bradenton Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got my letter today too and I got put on the alternate list 🙁

Dont worry zombies! Most people get in that are on the alternate list. For example, coral is declining their seat that's one more opening. And I put a deposit on LECOM because I LOVED it but I'm going to be declining it this week so thats another spot because I also feel like I would enjoy UF even more. Good luck and be happy you're on the alternate, not a bad place to be for this school.

I interviewed 1/28 also and emailed Jackie today to find out that I was placed on the alternate list.

Does anyone know if alternates are accepted before May or do they go through all the incoming interviews first?

As I understand it, they go through the interviews first. Sorry :/

My wife had her interview 12/3-5? I dont remember but it was early December. She did get accepted and put down a deposit for the spot.

Good Luck to everyone!

hey all,

i interviewed 01-29 and got my acceptance letter on 02-08! have not decided if i will accept the invitation yet!

i got called today with an interview invite for next Thursday (Feb. 25th). Anyone have that same interview date?

Hey pharmacygirl116 and harordr,

if you don't mind me asking, when did LECOM-B receive your pharmcas app? and when did you submit your supplemental? and how long after did they call you for an interview?

I'm asking because I submitted my supplemental on the 14th, and LECOM emailed me with confirmation of receipt. I check my email about a million times a day in case they decide to email with any information. Any info would be great!

Nvm, don't bother answering that...I got the call today for my interview!! 😀

I will be joining you guys on the 25th 😎

I hope your interviews went well. I was actually one of your ambassadors for the interview, my first day on the job.

If you guys get any questions, feel free to ask whatever you want.

For those who are accepted and are looking for housing: I am a male and looking for a roommate to co-rent nearby school. If anyone are in the same quest and/or know of any availability hit me up.

[email protected]

Thank you. Congrats Class of 2014 pharmacy brandenton

Hi sensei, (you jap?) do you know of any place to look for housing on the net or know where or who to contact?😎

I was the white guy with glasses wearing a gray shirt and shock white tie.

As for housing, you've got a couple options. You can try to go through a real estate agent (they're pretty good at finding houses for rent) or when you accept your position, they'll send you some information in a packet.

There are also a lot of apartment areas around LECOM that a LOT of students live in. If you do some searching, you'll find them. You've got a couple options. Houses tend to be nicer and bigger. There's more room, and you won't have to deal with parking. But there are advantages to living in the apartments. They end up being something like LECOM dorms. You can study with classmates easily. And suffice it to say, sometimes not having to drive home after a, shall we say, social gathering is a plus. LECOM is a very professional place, but that doesn't mean that we don't unwind a bit outside of class. So really, what you pick depends on what you want.

As I said in the interview, I actually bought a house, so that's the way we went. Regardless of which route you go, you'll find there is no shortage of housing. Florida got hit hard by the housing crash, so there are empty houses everywhere, rooms for rent, and houses for rent at nearly any price point.

Is LECOM Bradenton accepting January PCAT scores?

For those of you guys that interviewed on the 25th, has your status changed on the LECOM portal? I interviewed in the afternoon and its still "The Admissions Committee has not made a decision on your file. We will notify you as soon as a decision has been made."

But I talked to someone who interviewed on the 25th morning, and her status changed to "Your decision is being made and you will get an official letter in 10 days".

I'm so anxious :scared:

I interviewed in morning of the 25th and mine also says that the committee has not made a decision on your file........

Most likely, it will be a rejection letter or alternate seat letter.

The only way its an acceptance is when its says "A decision on your file has been made....."

Is LECOM Bradenton accepting January PCAT scores?

Yes they do. I took my PCATs Jan 20 last year.

For people that end up on the alternate list, do not lose hope. They interview a LOT of people, but nearly all of them get in. I was the second to last person to get in last year. Getting wait-listed is nearly as good as getting in, it's just a bit more stressful. Keep your hopes up. It will happen.

To those who got accepted to LECOM Bradenton, what was you GPA and PCAT scores??

I have a 3.3 GPA and a 60 composite PCAT and I am very worried...🙁

From what I've gathered, they seem to put more stock into your actual interview than anything. If you got to this point, you're in good shape. Unlike other schools, LECOM pretty much only interviews people they want to accept. They use the interview process to sort the people they're going to accept now from the people they're going to accept in a few months.

As for the GPA vs. PCAT thing, LECOM seems to have more of a bias for GPA than PCAT. And if it makes you feel better (it should) your undergrad GPA is better than mine was. I've talked to people in my class, and our PCATs have been all over the place. LECOM doesn't really seem to care about it, so long as you get over a 50.

It seems that way because I have a 3.2 gpa and 68 composite PCAT but I think my interview went flawless. From the four schools I have interviewed at, I can tell which ones are academic based and which are people based, and LECOM definately bases thier decisions on what type of person you are and if they feel that you are ready for future life.

JSensei, can you elaborate the food policy on campus.....from what I understand...there are NO exceptions...even carrying bottled water into the classrooms.

Are the administrators of the campus going to loosening strict policy any time soon?

I feel that this one of the biggest disadvantages to the school given that the school is in Florida where humidity can be unbearable....

No food or drink is allowed anywhere on campus except for the student lounge.

No exceptions.

I drink my dr. pepper in the bathroom on breaks =P

EDIT: Oh, I got in with ~2.9GPA and a 93% composite PCAT

I truly believe the interview is what makes or breaks you after talking with several people about it. If you got an interview, the school feels you're good enough academically to be in.

i was interviewed last thursday 2/25 and have not heard back from jackie yet. should i call them and ask them about my status and tell them about my new jan pcat score? i want to know whether i got in or not asap. if i do get in i would cancel my interview with another school on friday.

nvm my above post. just got a letter today saying im on alternate list. grrr. sucks..

I just got my letter today to... I also got ALTERNATE!!! I feel like I am just so CLOSE but so FAR!!! Hey what interview to do u have on Friday???

Is there anyone on here that has found any good apartment prices to rent, or any houses to rent that are looking for roomates. A good one I have found so far is the Yacht Club, but its still close to $800 for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apt.

i just got a letter saying im on the alternate list too...didnt wana go to my midwestern interview on friday but i guess i have to now🙁

I had my interview on 2/11 and got accepted on 2/15..so they seem a lot more efficient than some other schools as far as response times..But I can not stress enough that it is how u do in ur interview. Dont get me wrong I have done -lets say- not so hot- in times but the interview is what gets their attention. Make a connection if u know what I mean...it also depends on who u gets for an interview. Your interviewer can make the world of difference--plain luck. All in all do ur best and at the end of the day it is all in how your cards fall. I wouldnt stress out about analyzing everything because who gets in and who doesnt makes no sense to me..lol

I totally agree 100%. When in a interview you have to show them that you are the best fit person for the job but not in a cocky way, but as in a "picture me as a pharmacist" way. If you dont show confidance in a interview or eye contact, u might as well walk out. What ever the question is, try and tie it into a person experience answer and what you learned from it. If they say "what are the roles of a pharmacist?" and your a pharm tech, be sure to mention that. For example "From my experience of working in a (Insert here) pharmacy, I know the roles and expectations that a pharmacist has to meet, and to start, the biggest is ......" they find that impressive

The administration is not going to yield on things like food or drink because they want the school to be pristine. You have to admit, the school DOES look good. That said, people break the rules all the time. What happens if you get caught? Iunno. I guess you just get a lecture. I've never been caught, and I can take down an entire energy drink in one chug in the bathroom. (A lot of us use that method.)
And while I'm at it, save your breath trying to fight for casual day once a week/month/semester. It ain't happening. Personally, I like the dress code because I like to dress up.
The school is flexible in a lot of ways, but in others, they are dead set in their ways. It's just part of Lecom. Oh, and don't worry about humidity at school. They keep it cold enough to hang meat in there.

Will you go to NOVA if they accept you?

yes I think so..mostly because I can stay here ( I live in Port St. Lucie) with my fiance..although, to be honest, I really like LECOM. I wish it were closer to my home. They r so nice and pleasant there..something that I think would benefit me as I am in the stressful program. I really like how the school is very education oriented--by that I mean at the school I could tell the students were serious ( as I am) and focused on one thing..learning. Seems like there would be hardly any distractions on campus.

OMG! I had my interview March 11th (last Thursday), I e-mailed Ms. Grosser and she informed me that I was accepted. So happy! 😀

Congrats! Were you there in the morning or afternoon session? What does the message in your LECOM portal says?? Mine is "The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 10 days." I hope I get accepted too!
