Truth is, the weather changes often. Like on Wednesday it was super windy, Thursday morning we had some major downpours and today is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! It's in the 70s with some nice breezes and no humidity...a perfect day!

anyone in off the waitlist...I got the "your file has recently been reviewed; there is currently no change in your status" message. oh well. here's to hoping.

that is wierd.. i was offered an interview with Erie 2 months before the one at Bradenton and nobody had a problem with it.. and i was able to get acceptances from them both! though I have heard of others with that problem.. when we were at Erie (I say we cause we were both there!) one kid at our lunch table who already placed a deposit at bradenton.. said he got that letter from erie.. then was called for an interview and was there interviewing with us.. soo who knows.

I got the same message today...I wonder if they're going to look at the alternates more often now that it's getting later in the cycle...I sure hope so.

Yeah, my mom lives 1 hour from me and got 14", we however got almost nothing. This is the second huge snow storm that we have missed this year! I'll still be glad to get out of here!

Big Congrats to you LauraDO, and big encouragement hugs to everyone else who's on the waitlist. I know how it feels to be on the waitlist from being on it from other schools. But trust me, in the end, everything works out for the best. So who's all going to Bradenton for sure besides me? 😍:zip:

Nothing new in 2 days, and I'm going thru withdrawal! We were on the second page of threads!

But seriously, where does everyone stand with getting paperwork and stuff done? And, when is everyone moving that's not already in the area?

I'm soo swamped with stuff right now selling my house, and finishing school, and my husband is looking for a job, not to mention the kids. I was supposed to go have my first PPD read last friday and I totally forgot about the appointment. So, now I have to start over with the first one again. I'm going to the police station today to get fingerprinted, and will have my titers drawn this week also (I found out that my student health center will do those for $75 for 'nursing' students, so I'm going to go for that deal since I'm not sure if my insurance will cover it).

We're hoping to move end of June/beginning of July, hoping that the house sells by then, anyone need a house in IL?

Paperwork: Getting there. I'm going to student health today to get titered and shot. Need to do the state background check thing. Done Fafsa crap.

Moving: Mid-late june-early July at the latest. We're going to rent, and are looking for places now...

I agree...this place is really dead. What happened to everyone. I feel like I am in a ghost town.

Still anxiously awaiting a Match List. It's the first one, I thought they'd be all proud and showing it off by now! I'm starting to worry that it's not very good...gulp. Prove me wrong LECOM-B!

Paperwork: 😱 I'll see what all I have to do when I get my packet from the lovely Kate today (thank Kate, huge help)

Moving: I sadly will not be able to move until after July 20th because I have classes I have to finish up, so that means July 25th, I'm expecting a huge "Welcome Laura" group at the airport and a party in my honor

....just a heads up...🙂

Paperwork: I have finished everything except my first HepB titer was negative so I had to have a booster and a repeat titer around the middle of April then I will be done!

Moving: I am moving into the Yact Club Apartments the weekend after the Fourth of July! So we will have to have a "get together" shortly after that! My family is coming down for a vacation to help me move then leaving so I have to get to know some people so I don't go mad from boredom for those three weeks before school starts!


Kate I do feel sorry for you because you have to up-root your entire family and move to Florida 🙁 It is just me moving so it is not that bad for me!

I haven't heard anything much yet...we just had a dean's hour and there wasn't much mention of the match...I expect and hope we'll get some details about the results soon, but I wouldn't hold your breath. These things seem to take a while sometimes.
 
Well I mailed in my paperwork after getting back my FDLE's... I have an appt tomorrow to get results from bloodwork--- I didn't have the courage to ask over the phone which shots I will need 😱.

Other than that, ofcourse I paid for my ancient shot records from the school board, and ofcourse, I only have one documented DPT shot, so I'm having to get the Adult DPT, plus whatever else...

Oh, and need to do drug & alcohol screen (I guess I'll get a referral tomorrow). Otherwise, I guess things are moving along.

I won't be moving-- but I am looking for anyone wanting to carpool from USF/Seffner/Brandon/Tampa area... gas is crazy!

The thing is that there isn't actually a "list". The school doesn't get the results sent to them of ACGME residencies. For the osteo match they get info fast...for instance, we knew that there were neurosurgery and ortho matches the next day. But, they only way they know about MD residency matches is when the students bother to write them emails or give them a call. The results will trickle in and they'll give us more info. They seem to be pleasd with what they have heard so far, though.

Don't worry, the match list will be coming soon, the class pres. is assembling it. It is very good, lots of Anesthesia, Ortho, couple Rads. Mostly allopathic.
 
I just did my taxes and FAFSA yesterday. I still have all the lab work to get done; I need to check to see what I can get done through my school health but we're on spring break so no one's around right now. I've been looking at getting a job so I might be able to get my drug panel done that way.

I don't know when I'll be moving I'd like to put it off until mid-July so I can get as much saved up as possible. But I have been looking at places, and my favorite is just off of 75 and University parkway, mapquest put it at ~10min from school.
Any locals think that's too far? How often do you have to be at school at 8am (I'm not a morning person so I might prefer to live closer to reduce my commute time)?

Hey Guys, so I just called a bradenton today to find out that I have been waitlisted 😡 which is a fate worse than death. Does anyone have any suggestions on actions to take. I am also waitlisted at erie and have sent them a letter of interest/intent. Is it poor form to send more than 1 letter of intent? What do they like to hear as far as updates, and do they like/want updates? Any suggestions would be great, this is the worst part of all of this and it really sucks.

Welcome to the waitlist and good lord how great is your life that this is worse than death? Which part of this sucks? Dude. Perspective called, they'd like to talk to you.

You'll get periodic email updates that tell you they don't want content-free updates. So send more than one only if you have new information.

well my comment was more of a hyperbole and in the bigger picture i suppose my life is pretty good. but the part of this that sucks is being strung along for potentially up to another 4 months during which time I may have to start this process all over again for the 3rd time to find out that I may not get in anyway.

Have you been waitlisted before?

I would recommend doing anything you can to strengthen your application. Shadow more DO's, volunteer as much as you can, get some good grades (if you're still in school, that is), these are all updates that can be sent into LECOM-B that make you look better.
 
Hey Guys

I know everyone will probably be busy, but I am going to be visiting the area in April, from the 26th-30th. If anyone wants to meet up and show me around for an hour or so, I'd really enjoy the company. Im staying with my aunt so she might want to come too.

I cant wait to start!

For a "FP focused" school there are quite a lot of other specialties there; good for me who's not really sure of what I want to do 🙂

What I think I'll be even more interested in is finding out how these students got to where they are going. Like where they did their rotations and such. That information isn't compiled anywhere is it? I'll probably just start bugging the 2009/2010 classes when I get there 🙂

Now I just wish it was May so I could stop doing all this undergrad "busy work" and get ready to become a doctor! ....I never thought I would call it busy work, but now that I know where I'm going I can't focus on it at all.

From what I have heard the two schools seem to pay attention to their dual applicants so I don't think that it would be a good idea to send out a LOI to both schools, but that's just my opinion.

Agree 100%. It doesn't help that I have one of the worst teachers in the history of teaching. He spanked a girl 8 times and didn't get fired...to make matters worse, he can't lecture to save his life. He only talks about research he has done or has been involved in. It's horrible. I need it to graduate too...sucks.

There is a student-run mentorship program at the school that pairs underclassmen with upperclassmen that share a common specialty interest.

My profs aren't nearly that bad, actually I like most of them which makes me feel worse for not being able to put as much effort into my work. And I still don't know if they've determined honors (it's not just based on grades at my school) which I would really like to get.

Yep. He's gotta be around 50 or so...looks like a dirty, hippie, mountain man. I've got links to the news stories and stuff too...

Granted, this was 10 years ago, but he should have been fired. He still does inappropriate things with people, more subtle, but still wrong.

If you Facebook me, I'll give you the whole story...it would give away too much info about me on SDN though...

Hey, it could be worse! One of our Orgo teachers was arrested last year for chlild pornography the day before an exam. Everyone showed up and he didn't. (he no longer works at my school)

See...at least your school got rid of him. Mine has let this guy stay. The spanking isn't even the problem. He can't teach to save his life.

There no coherent lecture plan, no organization, and he doesn't use a textbook. It's a neurobiology class and he "doesn't care if you know the cranial nerves."

We haven't even see a PICTURE of a brain! In NEURO-biology.

They aren't getting any money from me as an alumnus until they get rid of him.

Well, I actually think that he went to jail, so I can't exactly give the school that much credit. FWIW, my neurobio class didn't need to know the cranial nerves either, we learned them in anatomy. We did study the brain though.
