Kate a hint from an old agent. Make the house look like Martha Stewart owns it. If that means painting, removing clutter, gardening, fresh flowers for showings, etc than do it. Most folks want to move into a house and not have to do any projects. Rent storage if you have a lot of clutter.

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying my best to make it look like Martha Stuart served out some of her house arrest here.

It's just a bad time in our neighborhood. It's new houses, but most of them are hitting that 5-7 year mark and people are starting to cycle out. Also, there is another house of our exact model that was forclosed, and is selling for about 100K less than we bought ours for. (It's not in good shape at all though). I'm just going to keep waiting. We'll do what we gotta do at this point.

I thought 3 was good. We have a neighbor who has had no showings in the last 2 months.
 
Seems like there will be a few people living at the Colonial Grand on LWR. I got a place there on Saturday. Those puppies were going quick. It's a good thing a few of you will be living there. My car is about to explode and I may need to bum rides when it is uber hot or raining. 😀

I'll be living there too. And yeah, my roommate and I are already talking about carpooling to school. Hehe. My move-in date is July 15th. When do you move in?

They wanted us to move in on the 15th also, but I switched it to July 18th. It will be nice to know some people living in Colonial Grand. 👍

Given that things are slow, I don't think three visits in 3 weeks are that bad. It only takes one right showing to get a bite.

Kate, you prob have considered this already, but just incase, instead of just lowering the price, try offering to pay 5-10k of buyer's closing costs. Qualifying for a loan is harder now, and people have to come up with more money. Maybe coming out of the pocket with less money if you help with closing costs might be more attractive and result in a quicker closing, than just lowering the price that is spread out over many years. We did this when we sold our house and I think it helped. :luck: :luck:
 
uh-oh.........just got my titers back and was ready to send everything in and be complete but it showed an equivocal for Rubella, and a negative for Mumps and Hep B! So I got the vaccine for the Rubella and Mumps, and plan to get the second dose in 4 weeks, followed by another titers test (which be right after school starts up).

But the Hepatitis B vaccine is a series of 3 shots, and takes atleast 6 months, followed by another titers test. So my question is, am i going to be able to matriculate in July? Does the vaccination need to be fully complete before school starts, or can i matriculate during this immunization process?

I tried to call Heather, but just missed their office hours. I'll be sure to call her first thing in the morning. But until then, I'm freaking out, because I don't know how common this is. So I appreciate any input, thanks guys.

All my titers came back positive, so I was good there...

I hadn't had hep B, and now I've had 2 shots, but I can't get the third one until August 1st...Heather knows about it, and says that I'm ok to matriculate...

Just call her in the morning, and talk to her...she's really nice and helpful.
 
It's not that uncommon for people to not seroconvert after the first Hep B series - actually some people never convert. I didn't convert till after my third series of Hep B - near the end of first year. You need to document that you are getting the shots, but you can't change your immune response. Just keep getting stuck and you'll be fine.

You'll be fine. As long as you are in the process and working on it that's fine, everyone will be a little different. There's still a few here and there that are going to finish up some shot or test.

My hep B was negative also. Just get it started, you can finish it in the fall.
 
#10 as of today! Yay. It's looking good. Everyone out there on the waiting list, keep the faith. It still seems to be moving up an average of 3-5 spots a week. 😀
 
hey, i know a few of you are from chicago, which is where i'm from. i'm curious if you are hoping to go back to chicago for residency or to practice later in life; and if so, do you know if going to lecom-b hurts your chances of getting residencies in the midwest region?? thanks.
 
Spoke to Heather earlier in the day and she said that i'd be fine. I just need to document the vaccines I got for the negative titers and send them updates throughout school. 🙂

You're not alone-- I won't be complete on my Hep B series until Oct, then still have to wait 6 weeks to test titers...

Ugh!!! And how about after 2 attempts at getting this friggin drug test, I am STILL missing part of the drug screen! I originally ordered 10 panel, ofcourse, they did 9 panel. OK, so I was retested on missing 2 drugs, and only 1 came back-- wt-heck?! So now I had to get a separate test just for tricyclic antidepressants... this is going to be sooo expensive getting all these separate tests, I am sooo no not looking forward to the bill. AND I need to get these results before the 16th. Sheesh.

Based on the first (and unofficial) match list, there are a large number of LECOM-B grads going to the midwest, and at least a few to Chicago.

From last year, I know when they get down to 7-10 people left on the list, they ranked another group...
 
Btw, per Heather, we'll be getting more financial aid info the end of this month. :hardy: And the booklist will not be out until the end of June...

Let me know where you find to get the Tricyclics done...I'm still trying to find somewhere here that does them for not $250. The only lab around is LabCorp and they don't normally do the Tri's, but will do them for $250 bucks...

Holy crap! I've called everyone in town, with no luck...I really don't want to pay that much...

Usually the first week I would hope for a few more. The market sucks now and that foreclosure is not helping at all. Hopefully droping the price and lot's of open houses will help you.

Trust me, I'm watching. And as far as you know I'm not actually running any predictive models. Math degree and all.
 
The list is moving quickly. I just received an e-mail that I'm #9 now. I've gone from being #30 on April 21st to #9 on May 9th, so I'm sure they are ranking more people. I hope it keeps moving!!! 🙂

😱 Don't tell me that! Oh man, I did get them at Labcorp. Krappers, I knew they were going to be expensive, I didn't think $250 expensive. I didn't even ask- I just shut my eyes and let them draw my blood.

Maybe try Quest dx? For that, it may be cheaper to pay for the 10 panel through Quest/Labcorp through self referral and not single out the Tricyclics.

I used Quest, and I'm afraid for when that bill comes because apparently they had to send out to a special lab for the PCP and Marijuana. I don't even want to know how much this all will be. As it is, my physical was part of my 'deductible' so I already owe a crap load. We just have to remember this when we are physicians and on the ordering end, tests are expensive and insurance dosn't always cover everything.


On a lighter note... I just sold all of my MCAT stuff! It's getting more and more real every day! I don't think that it will really sink in until we are sitting in class for the first time. So, if you see me in that first week with an enormous grin on my face it has hit me.

It's ok though...the Quest here is just a "collecting station" and sends their collections to: Labcorp!

If anyone has the email address of Annette Shively, could they PM me w/ it? I'm trying to rush in an additional recommendation to her (I've been corresponding w/ her recently). I think the adcom is meeting soon and she offered to get it to them if I sent it to her. I forgot to get her email and one of my rec writers is in Australia and now would be a good time for me to contact him w/ her address (so it can still be a confidential rec).

Digitl got it right, I have her business card in my interview packet. You can also email it to Heather. I emailed her my LOI the day before they reviewed our files and she got it in there for the review.

We're all pullin for you marathondude! Oh, but I'm way cooler than Laura or Digitl!! 😀

I also edited my AACOMAS GPA to say 5.7 and my MCAT was 56Z.

Actually, it's really easy...you hit the quote button, the when the typing screen comes up, you go up to the top and edit the text inside the "quote" tags. :laugh:

Watch, I'll do it to Kate too...(this probably violates some kind of SDN rules...please don't ban me...we're just joking around here...lol)
