No hotel as far as I know offered a shuttle service to the school, you can always call a taxi though.

Current Students: Do you know which Florida rotation sites LECOM offers to 3rd year students with at least a B average?😕 I'm not referring to all affiliates, but I'm referring to the ones where the students can stay at that site/area/city for the entire 3rd year.

anyone interviewing this friday? i'm trying to figure out transportation to and from the airport and to the school. split cabs? is anyone renting a car? PM me and lets figure something out.

come on SDNers! i know someone will be there for the interview Friday. i'm getting down to bradenton tomorrow afternoon.

Wheres everyone at? This thread is dying. Lets hear some more acceptances !!!!!!!

I wish I had good news to report....I'm still waiting to hear back on an interview invitation =/ Course I didn't get invited for a secondary or have it been processed till the 15th.

I think I read that there was about a week n a half to two week turn-around for an interview invitation? Would they be a bit longer now that it's later in the application cycle? This is my top school so I'm really nervous about this one...lol

I'm sort of confused as well... Do they reject or just not send an interview invite?

i submitted my secondary 9/22 and just got an interview invite on monday (for 1/5/11), so it was almost 4 weeks exactly

Alright some life to this thread👍
Yes, they do actually reject people pre-interview. If you check your status on the lecom portal and it says "a decision has been made...", before you have interviewed, then you have probably been rejected. If it still says you are under review then you still have a chance.

Congrats Jackie :highfive:. Doesn't it feel good to know your gonna one day be a doctor😉

Hey man, how'd the interview go?!?

it went really well I think, I can call and find out if I got accepted or not, but I'm trying to hold back and wait for the letter on Sat. We'll see if I can last that long.

wow i didnt know they get back to you that quickly cool! good luck!!

I just want to comment on their absurd "admissions portal". They tell you to check this portal for status updates and it is just a joke.

Yes, I am a bit bitter that they rejected me over 2 weeks ago, but when I check my status online, it still states my "file is under review and that I will be contacted". Shows you how useless the portal is that a candidate rejected over 2 weeks ago still has as status as "under review".

I am also a bit surprised I was flat-out rejected. 3.7gpa and 27Q MCAT, solid EC's and LOR's. I know those aren't uber-applicant stats, but I was a bit surprised that they rejected me outright. Oh well.

Had my interview yesterday, thought it went very well. I thoroughly enjoyed the PBL session and all of the students there seem very happy. Very nice area, too. I'm debating as to whether to call in next wednesday to find out or just wait for the letter. Either way, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

Wow so I guess I have a bit more waiting time then :smack: Ugh patience is by far my WORST virtue...so this whole process has been a good learning experience for me at least lol. Good luck on your interview!! :xf:

Does LECOM-B seem to be a bit slower than Erie? I submitted my secondary to Erie on Monday 10/18 and they've already processed and changed my updated status to "application is under review" today whereas Bradenton's portal still says "We received your supplemental application. The review process will begin on your file. You will be notified when updates are made" and has been that way since the 15th. I guess either way they don't really update those online things constantly with all the inflow they're probably getting around now..

I guess I'll just have to wait about 2 more weeks till I start calling and pestering someone. Who would be a good person to try and contact over in Bradenton?

i was kind of thinking the same thing about bradenton being slower than erie, but my erie status still says "under review" and my bradenton went from we received your supplemental, to "will be sent to the adcom for further review" to interview (or something like that). there was never an "under review" like erie's says. so who knows whether they just dont update or what the deal is. anyway, im just happy i have an interview, and like i said i submitted a month ago so try to be patient! difficult in this process i know!! hopefully you will hear good news soon:xf: good luck!!

was anyone able to move their date up when interviewing? my interview is scheduled for 1/5 but i want to call and see if there are any earlier spots available. i see people withdrawing from interviews at other schools but seems like LECOM-B is pretty popular. I will call anyway, just wondering if others have had success doing this?

thanks guys! congrats to those already in, good luck to the rest of us:xf:

I agree about the portal. I came from a university that used Blackboard, which has its issues, but compared to the LECOM portal it was amazing. I don't know of anybody who likes the (Jenzabar-powered) portal we use, from students to faculty. That goes for classes as well as the admissions process.

Oh and full-year spots for 3rd years here in Florida... the list won't be out for a while, but the ones I think I remember from last year's list were in Wellington, Lakeland, Largo, St. Pete, and Orlando. Don't quote me on those. Once we get definite info about it, I'll let you know, but the clinical ed department has said they don't yet have a full list.

It's a little frustrating, not having this nailed down yet, but on the other hand my home state MD school doesn't do assignments until December of 2nd year; so while I'm sure there are lots of places that do it better, LECOM's messy way of doing things isn't unique. We do have a lot more flux in our rotation sites, however.

The best I can say about it is that 3rd and 4th years get their rotations done, and they just announced a 98% first-time pass rate for the current 4th years on Step II of COMLEX. Our student government association's website shows rotation reviews from 3rd and 4th years showing what ones are better than others, so that helps a little bit.

One other thing about the portal: I was accepted in December, and in April or May my status online still showed some things x-ed out, like I didn't have them completed... I think physics was one of the requirements marked as incomplete, I can't think of the other. Being paranoid, I called the admin office to double check that yes, I did take those classes and they weren't going to turn me away at the door on the first day. My guess is that once they make a decision, for better or worse, they don't always make changes on the portal.

For those who have been invited for interviews or been accepted, would you mind sharing your stats.

As I mentioned earlier, i have a 3.55 cumm 3.75 science and 27Q MCAT and they flat out rejected me. I am wondering what that stats are or those of you who were shown some love from this school.

The ones I know about are Largo Med in Clearwater, Fl Hosp in Orlando, Wellington down in South FL, and I think Sacred Heart up in Pensacola (panhandle area). Things change each year so definitely subject to change over the next few years.

That said those are just the sites that take on students for an entire 3rd year set of rotations, you can certainly choose to stay in the St Pete area and not do the year long spots here at Largo. That's pretty much what I've done, moved up to Clearwater area and just schedule all mine at spots in this area.

There have also been classmates who went back to their random home town and setup all their spots there so they could be back near family. May take a little extra work on their part but it's possible.

Interviewed 10/1:

My status page says that a decision has been made but no letter yet. I think I got rejected. 🙄

Congrats everyone else.

Perfect! Exactly the answers I was looking for. 👍
Thanks, lax!

yes you can I moved mine up from late dec to oct 18, interviewed and got accepted so call them up, best time to do so is on fridays.

Just got my letter today and am an alternate. I'm actually very happy about this because it was my first interview and we have to put up a non refundable deposit of $1500 a month after acceptance. This gives me time to actually go to my other interviews and see what schools fit me best. So as of now, I have 2 weeks to accept the alternate position then a month after I hopefully get accepted. By that point I am hoping to have decisions from my other schools.

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to withdraw your application here? I know that a lot of places give you the ability to do so on the portal, but I can't seem to find it. Do I just email or call? I want to free up my interview date for someone else.

Thank you!

3.51 cumm, 3.55 science, 27Q (8p/8v/11b).. Interviewing tomorrow. I guess it is more or less hit or miss. Nevertheless - best of luck w/ your other apps! 👍

I received an email just now stating "LECOM Bradenton has Processed your Supplemental Application"

I logged into the student portal and it says "Your application has been processed and will be sent to the Admissions Committee for further review. You will be notified as soon as a decision has been made."

Does anyone who has interviewed know how long it will take for me to hear a rejection or interview invite? Thanks

Hunter

I also received this email...but noticed that my status on portal said "A decision has been made and a letter sent out within 30 days." or something like that. A previous poster had a similar thing and it was posted in error, they received an interview invite several weeks later, but it also sounds like a rejection....grrrrr. Thoughts?

I wouldn't worry I'm sure it is not a rejection, Thanks for the info on the three to four week time frame.

Why don't you call and ask the school?

Interviewed 10/20. Found out I was alternate listed this morning. Anyone know how many people are alternate listed and actually get accepted?

I forgot the person's name who was speaking to us about the alternate list at the school, but she said last year they had around 50 students on the list and accepted about half of them. She said there is definitely still hope if you're put on the alternate list.

Just be sure to accept the alternate list position! And I would definitely show interest through follow up emails.

All the best. You will do well. Just read this and last year's thread and go to feedback forum. You will be fine.

Haven't heard or gotten anything. After writing that big check, I was hoping to get something in the mail, but nothing.

I guess its still REALLY early in the game though.

🙂

If anyone happens to cancell an interview between now and Feb 1st, could you please PM me and let me know, It would be very much appreciated!'

Thanks

Hunter

Sorry for the typo, cancel not cancell
