So I am confused when it comes to my letters of recommendation for this application cycle. In short I am asking if the SLOR's count as letters of recommendation or are a separate entity.

I have rotated at two different EM programs and have gotten SLOR's from both of them. Say program X requires 3 LOR's does this mean that my if I submit two SLOR's and one "regular" LOR, say from a surgery attending I am good? Or does this mean that I need my two SLOR's and then 3 LOR from attending's that I have worked with?

My understanding was that if program X wanted three letters I would need my two SLOR's and then just one other "regular" LOR, but I could be wrong.

Depending who I talk to I have heard I need 2 SLOR's and 3 "regular" LOR's and another person has told me that I just need my 2 SLOR's and just 1 "regular" LOR to apply to program X so I am confused. Thanks in advance.

The max number of letters you can send is 4 to any given program.
