Can someone please explain the entire process of how LORs are sent to AAMC. When do I ask my professor (February?) what do I give them? Where do I tell them to send it to? Etc.

Completely clueless on this topic.

also see the AAMC Letter Resources for Applicants with tutorial videos and everything
https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/amcasresources/63226/faq_amcasletters.html (near bottom of page for Applicant Resources)

Additionally AAMC FAQ on Letters
https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/faqs/146562/letters_questions_landing_page.html

And something form AAMC that I suggest applicants read AND forward to their writers with request

So I can't even begin asking for letters of rec until May? That seems weird (classes would be over by then)? According to the link I won't have a letter Id until AAMC opens?

You can ask the professor any time. You can't actually get a letter sent to AMCAS until May. The letter will sit on their desk until then.

But they can upload it to interfolio, correct?
Yes, I had my letters sent to Interfolio starting in January.

The ID numbers can be attached when you send them from Interfolio to AMCAS or AACOMAS, so no need for the letter writer to include any ID numbers.
