same here....just got the waitlist email a couple minutes ago. Kinda figured that one was coming. Well all we can do now is hope kids like mikevicksdogs got in and get arrested or shot before school starts so we can have their seats.

Got this **** too, I KNEW there were no seats available, my interviewer told me so and I kind of brushed it off. Im thankful I have an acceptance and Tufts '13 it is, and I am happy for that!

I interviewed on February 18th, got waitlisted today. I called today, the waitlist is apparently unranked. Looks like a year off for me! (sigh)

I never got that e-mail either. But looking at the people that got actually got the waitlist e-mail, like alanis221 (who's got a higher GPA than I do), I have a feeling that is probably a bad thing...

My personal guess, rejection letter is coming soon via snail mail

Nope . From what I've read on SDN, I'm assuming it's pretty long...but I'm not going to speculate. Just keep your head up, and make contingency plans if you don't have a shot at anywhere else like me.

I don't think that UMD emphasizes entirely on GPA or the DAT scores. I'm sure you have strong application package than I do. Don't lose hope. Good luck and I really hope you get in for the Class of 2013

I received my waitlist letter on thursday, but it doesn't say that the class is full. It states that the adcom has not made a decision on my file yet. When I was waitlisted last year, the email said that the class was full and that they were still keeping my file under consideration if a spot became available. What do your letters say?

Mine clearly states:

As we discussed on the
day of the interview, our admissions process operates on a rolling
basis. The Committee on Dental Recruitment and Admissions has placed
you name on a list of applicants we are considering for 2009
admission. Unfortunately, we have come to that time in the admissions
cycle when our class is filled. Based on trends in previous admissions
cycle, we anticipate that spaces will become available within the next
few weeks as we approach our second deposit deadline and in the coming
months as we continue our admissions cycle.

Yours is different? Also, this is I believe your third cycle right?

As we discussed.... Etc. Then it states, at this point the committee on dental recruitment has not made a decision on your file.

This is my 3rd year being waitlisted if that is what this means. I might be reading too far into it, but my email is different... I'll copy and paste the entire email when I get home.

I called the school this morning and they told me that they haven't make any decision yet , so my application is still under reviewed , it's not a rejection or far down the waiting list as you wished.

I actually called this morning as well (since I never got the e-mail), and I was told the same thing about my app still under review. But... I interpreted that as my file "under review" to make the waitlist. If the seats are already filled... I think making the waitlist is the best we can hope for at this point.

Edit: I interviewed mid-Feb and I felt like I TANKED the interview. The faculty interviewer looked like he lost interest after the first 2 questions. The faculty didn't make eye-contact with me again until the end of the interview. The student interviewer ended up asking all the questions and I felt like I was talking to this student interviewer the whole time... *sigh*

Why are the words "In writing" bolded? Can we just notify them that we are interested in being placed on the waitlist via email or must we send them a letter?

the reason its in writing is bc they dont want to deal with phone calls. its easier for them to have something tangible they can put in your file.

it makes no difference to get on the waitlist thru any of the 3 ways. if u are doing snail mail, make sure u spend the xtra few bucks and send it certified.
