Thank you for this awesome thread! Do you have more thoughts/info on the Allegheny program? One of the posts calls it solid but it's also listed under "not as strong" programs.
Agree with qwertythrowaway. Allegheny is definitely very procedural heavy. Seemed like a program that would give you good training more so by volume than by teaching. I didn’t feel like the teaching was very strong there and agree that it may be more difficult publishing if your interested in research. I didn’t really like that they were trying to compare themselves to UPMC. The PD was very salesman like saying they get better training because there are less fellows but I don’t really agree with that I think UPMC is clearly a far better program and it made me question anything he said. It is very DO friendly though. Pittsburgh is a cool city with a good COL too.

I interviewed there. Applied mostly bc it is very DO friendly. It really depends what your goals are. If you're looking to publish a ton, it might be more challenging to do that at AGH than at a university program, but definitely not impossible. Per my notes, I thought the procedural training and volume were strong (I believe IR is the only fellowship they offer). Pittsburgh seems like a nice city with good COL. Definitely not a bad place to train

Thank you both for your insights! So it looks like they would be a solid program if goals are private practice, but less so if interested in research/academics. Would you mind sharing thoughts on WVU? I would appreciate any further info on programs in and around Pennsylvania as well. Trying to figure out what the strongest community programs are.
