Yep, I've been having drive issues with the coming of tomorrow.Wow guys, today is the 14th, can you believe it???
This countdown is almost over! Any of you guys having a hard time focusing on your school work/jobs? I have studying to do, but the closer it has gotten to the 15th, the harder it is for me to focus!

DrJD, didn't you get into UIC already?
Yup! I was fortunate enough to get accepted to UIC back in November, but am on three waitlists, thus my excitement for tomorrow 🙂
That's cool. You petitioned for Chicago right? Is UIC-Chicago track your #1 choice or is it one of the schools that you got waitlisted on?

I pretty much get excited every time my phone rings with a number I don't recognize or I see new e-mails in my inbox....Let's hope these few days play out in everyone's favor.
Good luck to everyone out there!
That could end up being a great txt from last night.
Awesome, here's hoping!!!In 3 hours is May 15th. 🙂
My friend got off a w/l at one school already. so movmt has occurred at some places already.
to EVERYONE!!!!!!
and some irish luck to me that I get off my SMP w/l.

Check it constantly Monday.i'm going to be checking my e-mail constantly tomorrow...

i haven't been all too lucky in this process
I'm confused, you have two acceptances... what more could you possibly want? I can think of at least 10 people off the top of my head (who have higher numbers than you) who would die to be in your shoes.
Not being lucky would constitute you being on waitlists right now (or rejected) and not knowing whether you'll be going to medical school or not.
So do people have to drop down to 1 acceptance by May 15 or on May 15?

All waitlisted people will gather torches and pitchforks and be coming to a place of residents near you (ie: your place of residence).yes, that's the idea. if they don't, there could be repercussions.
On it. Which is why getting excited about today is probably not the best idea. While some med schools may have had withdrawals throughout the cycle leading to spots being open already, I suspect that today they'll just kind of take in all of the withdrawals sent to them, Monday they might tally them and double check that all the people who haven't withdrawn are only holding one spot (and if they're not, they'll give them a call), and then I think movement will start Tuesday. Anyway, total speculation, but that's what I think makes the most sense.
What happens if you got in off a waitlist just today? Do I still have to decide by the end of the day?
I'm currently accepted at two Texas schools at the moment and I'm not sure if 13 hours is enough to make a decision!? Ahhhh. (I really didn't think I would have gotten into the other school so I didn't really plan for this scenario).

I think you are right, I think that Monday will be the big day that movement starts. For me, I was looking forward to today not because movement was going to happen, but because at least from this point on stuff could happen. When you get waitlisted in February, it sucks because you know nothing will happen till after the 15th...
Hey ONOY, have you heard any news from your other schools?Yeah imagine being on 3 waitlists since october bro, then one more later on. I did get into 1 eventually, at the end of april (7 months and 10 days after my interview!).

wish I knew how much of a shot I had at my only wait-list. My advisor thinks it's about a 50-50. I guess he's extrapolating I'd be right around the middle of the pool. Thankfully I can move up / down easily in the waitlist depending on updates

Yeah, apparently it's less stressful without rankings. Pffffft. I'd rather have my exact number in the rankings, then have the school maintain a ticker on their website that showed what number was next. It would be so much less stressful knowing exactly where I am on the waitlist.
It would be AWESOME if ranked wait-lists functioned in this manner, but I think the one thing precluding such an informative system is the fact that even though applicants are ranked, there is still some randomness regarding who is taken in order for the school to have a class with a certain demographic (males vs. females, race, in-state vs. out-of-state, etc).
Special master's program. Sorry 2 pages of posts buried this post so I didn't see it.
It is a type of master's program where you take either all medical school courses or a mix of medical school year 1 courses and graduate courses.
This is used by several to enhance apps for med school if one stat or another is weaker but the rest of your app is strong.
Oh ok, it's the one year masters programs like molecular medicine or anatomy. That's cool, I just had no idea what SMP stood for. Thanks for the info.
Tomorrow should see a lot of people getting off waitlists, good luck everyone.
Lets hope so! 🙂
I also hope that everyone remembers to post over in the movement thread so we can follow it...
Good luck!
