Yeah. I think you know how I feel about the matter...😉

Here's hoping that any of us hear something. We (SDNers) almost didn't hear last time, though, and Mayo's probably accepting even fewer than 7 people this time. thegetupkid only had a few posts. So far he's the only one on SDN accepted out of 7 sent out.

So we'll see what happens. I'm not expecting much especially as I haven't written any kind of letter (at this point).

True... but I've been stalking the 2008 thread all day, and in their 2nd acceptance release (granted it wasn't until early December...) they had 10 acceptances handed out, and had handed out almost 20 by the holidays... so here's to hoping there will be more?

Thanks a lot for your input! I'm glad that I don't have back-to-back interviews after Mayo then! I'll be flying in to Rochester the night before my interview (around 10pm) so I guess that's kind of risky 🙁 but I have an interview the day before ..gah.. Do you know if Dec. 19th is in the middle of your vacation? I have a feeling there aren't going to be many students around to host me that day, although I'd love to stay with a student host.... Thanks again!

Dec. 19th is actually the last day of the next block, which is supposedly a relatively laid back three week block called Physician & Society. Our next selective period starts on Dec. 20th, so some students will likely be going out of town Friday or Saturday to go home or to other cities, but everyone will be around Thursday night and the day of your interview. If you have any problems getting a host or feel inspired to stay with an SDNer just drop me a message. Or if you want to meet up when you're here, I can get on the list to take interviewees to lunch the day you're interviewing or something.

You know, if you want to go out to dinner with students the night before your interview, PM me and let me know when you're interviewing and I'll coordinate it so you can meet up with other hosts & interviewees. Or if some other night works for you or you just want to meet up and chat sometime let me know. I live right near the Caribou in front of St. Mary's, and would be happy to meet up there anytime. Especially in December when I'll have lots of free time to babble about Mayo. Not that you don't know everything already being a native Rochestrian and all....

So wouldn't it be better if the curriculum for Anatomy was lengthened a little and the P&S shortened/condensed into more hours per day but 1/2 weeks shorter, or is that not possible due to clinic related stuff?
 
Note: We are officially approaching the last few hours of whatever constitutes "this week"...

Well, it seems like the last time calls went out in the afternoon.

(I have no idea why *I'm* getting all nervous about this).

I wonder if the SDNers accepted from the hold list last year wrote letters (either of interest or of intent) or not. I've decided to hold off on writing any sort of letter for various reasons. I might eventually but not just yet.

if you get a call the only letter you will have to write is "here's my deposit" 🙂

I've learned from two trial and errors that calling Marcy on interview days isn't the most brilliant idea.

Thanks for the info. I figured once it was past 3:30 there wouldn't be calls today. Now I can actually enjoy dinner without anticipating a hold email at 7 PM.

Did you shadow anyone today?

can someone tell you if they notify you by email if you are rejected pre-secondary/LOR request? i know it's probably SOMEWHERE in all the previous posts...but they are quite numerous! thank you!

Interviewed Today and OMG!!!! Amazing.....I am in total and complete love with MAYO. This wait is going to kill me. But for those waiting for appointments, Marcy told me they would be going out next week right before Thanksgiving. Good luck to everyone that is eligible.

So I guess it might not be necessarily on Monday.
 
So I've received an email that said thanks for interviewing. Does that mean I should receive another one saying I have been ranked? If I haven't received that email yet does that mean I would not be in this next round of acceptances?

If you haven't been ranked, you are not eligible for an acceptance yet. It took 3-4 weeks for me to be ranked for what its worth.

I got that email as well a few days after the interview. The ranked email came a few weeks after. Best of luck!

Thank you! She said that seven offers were going out, so even if you get put on hold there is still plenty of time to get an acceptance!!

I hope so. 67% left I guess. BTW what time did you receive the call, if it's been a while then I can turn my cellphone back to vibrate. Had a special ringtone all set up....

Now I just gotta sit back and finally relax I guess. Already did everything I possibly could in the last 7 months, there's nothing more I can do at this point.

While it's wishful thinking, I just don't see how it's possible. She started calling at around 10 AM. There are only 7 calls so even if it's 4 minutes per call, it would still take less than 30 mins 🙁

Yea. That's what the email says and Marcy said at orientation, after the hold you can still get appointed later. You won't be re-ranked at a meeting though.

Man, I just got put on hold too! Probably the worst email I've ever gotten. So does anybody have any idea what the possibility of coming of the hold list is?

Umm, at this point, assuming 180 people have been interviewed, approximately:

(42-14) / (180-14)

The 180 number will increase as Mayo interviews more people, so every mon/fri.

This is assuming we are average applicants with average rank.

Hey now, there are 50 overall...maybe some of the people they accepted were for the "other programs" like MD-PhD and that Dental Surgery thing...

So maybe it's 50-14.

And bear in mind, we will be interviewing with about 300 people total before the season's up.
