ok, a thread from last year like this exists for mcats less than 25. i would like to start it again. not sure if anyone's gotten interviews with lowish mcats yet, but if you have, please post here. also, please post your stats (or at least your mcat score), where the interviews are, state of residence, and whether or not you are urm (no flames please). thanks!

5 interviews so far, 28MCAT 9, 10, 9 Q, 3.63, good EC, white.

I like this thread cuz it gives people hope. Can we also list where the interview is and state of residence.
thanks

Hey all!
2 interviews so far - umdnj-njms and usuhs.
stats = 27m mcat, 10v, 9p, 8b. 3.23 gpa, 3.33bcpm, 3.7 grad
good e.c.'s, though not much clinical experience, non-urm, nj res. unfortunately, though, my interviewer at one school didn't understand how i made the cut to get there and said i prob'ly wouldn't get any more interviews in the process 🙁 🙁 🙁 . keeping my fingers crossed though!!

Hey all,

last year I had a 27P (9,9,9) MCAT and got 2 interviews and was waitlisted at both schools. I just took the August MCAT and now have a 28R (10,10,8) with some other cool clinical stuff to add to that. I hope that I will get more interviews this year but who knows??!! Any words of advice from anyone out there? This is so nervwracking!!! I have a 3.5 GPA btw with good ECs and letters of rec.

5 interviews here too. 3.53 GPA, 9V, 9P, 10 B, S. Took the MCAT twice, did mucho better on my second one, the April one of this year. Interviews to GW, Drexel, NYMC, U of MD, and USUHS. I'm a Maryland resident.

Good job on getting all those interviews kaos! Wow, that gives me a lot of hope. Thanks for sharing with us. Good luck! 🙂

I can answer on behalf of my husband.

MCAT: 7V, 8P, 11B GPA: 3.9 Sciences Non-Traditional, Lots of ECs, Health-related work experience, and URM

Interviews: Already done: both NJ schools, Rochester, UPitt, Albany, USUHS, and Drexel. Scheduled for the future: U of Illinois Chicago, Michigan State, Wisconsin School of Med, Temple, U of Utah, U of Colorado, and Creighton

this should make you feel better, I (cara, not erin) have a 3.45 GPA (with strong upward trend) and 28R MCAT (same distribution as kaos). Not a URM (white), so far interviewed at VCU/MCV, EVMS, Drexel, Penn State, USUHS, and GWU. Upcoming interviews at Albany (friday) and NYMC. Double major in biology and psychology, heavily involved in sorority (1st 2 years of college) and community service fraternity, volunteered in ER and at VA hospitals, worked on a public health project assessing poor women's health on the Eastern Shore of Virginia during the summer. Resident of VA (rural area), attend school in PA. Hope MCV e-mails me with some good news tomorrow. BTW, my roommate has a 31 MCAT and has about 15 interview invitations on her second time applying. Not a URM, she just applied earlier and presented her application better this time, and applied to more schools. good luck!

I've received one interview (UCLA) so far...my mcats were well below 29...PM if you need to know exact numbers...I'm a little shy posting my scores! I'm a CA resident, but attended an out-of-state school. My cumm. gpa is 3.78.....

There's hope....😀

The average MCAT score is about 30. So roughly half the medical student population scored less than that...

But don't expect miracles with an MCAT of 27 with low science subscores.

Yes, you are right. The average score for all test-takers is 24. For matriculated students it's 30.

I have a 28P MCAT, 9 9 10. science gpa is 3.85. I've had 5 interviews so far, NYMC, Drexel, SLU, SUNY-Buffalo, and Tufts. It's definently possable to get interviews with a MCAT below 29.

Just curious. Are you interested in going into Psychiatry?

I have a 28 O MCAT (9V 10P 9B OW) and got a pre-secondary interview invitation from Howard. Actually, my secondary came in the same letter as the invitation. I guess they were trying to save stamps. 😀

Just got Drexel interview invite in the mail..says it was sent out Oct 11. Anyway 28...10-8-10N. GPA 3.45. I am excited. It's my first interview.

that's great  keep 'em coming!

I have a 27M (10V, 8PS, 9BS) and recieved an interview at UMDNJ-RWJMS. I'm not a URM- and I live in NJ. Still waiting to see if more come in...

Hey smilz! When did you get the invite from umdnj-rwj? i'm a nj resident too with a 27m (10v, 9p,8b) and i'm dying for an interview there. Thanks so much!

i interviewed back in September (9/10). I had submitted all of my stuff mid-august. nice interview staff though. still waiting to hear back. 🙂

i had an interview at my state school based on my april mcat (27..9's across the board, with a Q). i got in...my august scores went up a good bit, but they didn't have them when they notified me of my acceptance

actually, I am interested in a few specialites; haven't decided yet.. I decided to double major in Bio and Psych b/c I took a psychology course at a community college before I started college and really enjoyed it. I'm interested in psychiatry (poss. child and adolescent), neurology (also maybe ped. neurology, I am good with kids), internal medicine now that I'm taking microbiology, and family/rural medicine. I'll make up my mind eventually I think🙂

Got my first interview today to Michigan State!! If the status page is telling the truth anyway!

Have 26P MCAT, 3.67 GPA (3.54 science), from Michigan, and not a URM...although I probably could've qualified for economically disadvantaged...

Hope this gives some people some optimism, as I think I may be the lowest MCAT that has posted on here so far!!

Woohoo! I've got another one! i love it that my first interviewer was wrong! University of Maryland (not my state school)🙂 🙂 🙂

I have 29s (9V 10P 10B) and I have had two interviews so far (UMD aka state school and VCU). I have three more setup. My only qualm is that I heard about all these interviews about 4 weeks ago and for the last month I have gotten nothing but rejections and holds. Plus my UMD interview wasnt great and now I am starting to worry I might not get any more chances.

I got a 29 on the MCAT and I have received four interviews so far. NYMC, Albert Einstein, Tulane (waitlisted), and Temple (accepted).

there's hope for the under mcat 29 people. i got a 28 (9V, 10P, 9B) and gpa 3.58, bcpm 3.45, i'm a md resident. got interviews at drexel, maryland, nymed, mcv, eastern va(wait listed-grrr), med college of ohio, suny brooklyn, gw.

I originally thought that getting below the sacred score of 30 was the end of the world. Now, I know that it's possible to get interviews and maybe accepted. CONGRATS to those of you who have managed to overcome your sub-30 score w/ fantastic ECs, letters, etc.

Anyways, here's all the pertinent info:

MCAT 28Q (9, 10, 9 Q and 8, 10, 10 Q...grrr! I wished I had improved a LITTLE)
Sci and non-sci GPA 3.6
Good EC's, currently working as phlebotomist, training as pathology assistant, and academic tutor
Good letters (5 good and 1 may be average)
4 interviews: Boston U, NYMC, Einstein, and Drexel
2 holds: UCSD and Wake Forest

Good luck to everyone! 🙂

I just wanted to give you some hope because I felt the same way this year when I was applying. I have a 3.64 GPA and 29 MCAT. So far I have had interviews at UTH, UTMB, and UTHSCSA. I just got a Baylor interview! So just hang in there! I am a TX resident, with really good ECs and not a URM. GOOD LUCK!

I think that the question we should be asking is: MCAT less than 29 and ACCEPTANCES?

Attention - new medschool in Karachi Pakistan. Open to all foreigners.

Pakistan!

Adding an acceptance for an under 29-er, Drexel, my first! Also should be hearing a decision one way or the other from Albany, USUHS, GWU, and Penn State within the next 2 weeks. NYMC will probably hear in late December or early January. UVM interview in December. Waitlisted at EVMS and on hold until Dec. 15 or later at VCU/MCV.

For all the peeps who are beginning to get acceptances, are and of you Aug 02 MCATers? Just curious as to how soon we will start seeing some acceptances having taken that test (and having scored 29 or below).
