hey all,
i'm finishing up my MS1 year here at MCG so if anybody has questions about classes, books, etc. you can pm me or email me at
[email protected] (fyi, don't rush out and buy all the books on the list, talk to somebody first or buy some from MS2's).
as stated earlier, there is a notetaking service.
edited: i was incorrect about all the note stuff... it's always been that you have to buy the handouts for MS2 but they give them to you in MS1
1st semester is histology, gross anatomy and embryology all in one. most tests include all 3 but a couple will just be 2/3. second semester is biochem/physiology module and then brain and behavior (neuroanatomy and psychiatry). essentials of clinical medicine (ECM) is all year.
attendance varies a lot depending on the lecturer (you get to know who you can skip and who not to miss - although there are a lot of different people who will lecture for clinical lectures). one week for ECM we had 15 people in class b/c we had a big biochem test on that friday. 15 out of 180, it was embarressing and there were some gripes from the faculty... but attendance is only "required" in anatomy lab and in ECM small group sessions, but in anatomy they don't check and you do not get graded on your dissections (althought they treatened to deduct points b/c people got pretty lazy about 3/4 through the semester, but they never did it). in ECM, you get 2% off your total grade for each unexcused small group session you miss (they are ususally every 2 weeks).
