MCPHS (Worcester)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a response today after my interview for PharmD on Oct. 28 in Worcester, MCPHS. They put me in waiting list. I am so upset about it.I did not expect to be in waiting list.I have good GPA (3.71) with BS in Chemistry. I am so upset about it and this is the only college I have applied for. I am completely clueless about to what to do. I still have Bio II and MicroBio grade to be submitted. Is it the reason of why I am still on waiting list? can anyone suggest me anything? I will highly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Chris 🙁( This is Jaime ~~~ I got put on wait list for Sullivan too 😡
Guess I have to pack my luggage and go MCPHS next month 😳

I hope you know that school has a terrible reputation and the attrition rate is through the roof. Enjoy your time off while you can. Prepare for hell.👍

Congrats to those who were recently accepted... and don't listen to this or any other negative reviews. I had the same concerns and I and many others in my class are enjoying the program and are doing well. Good luck to those w/ upcoming interviews!

Congratulations! So, are you gonna be coming to this school or are you waiting on other schools?

Most likely attending Mcphs. I was accepted to st John fisher in ny as well but am leaning towards Worcester. You're def attending in the fall?

Yes, I am 99% certain I'll be attending in next fall barring any circumstances beyond my control. I hope to meet you if we both end up going there next year. Congrats again!

Thank you. Definitely not scared of the challenge. I'll give it my best and hopefully, I'll come out on top and finish in 3 years.

Received acceptance letter in the mail today!! 😀

Hello everyone!

So I just took my very first PCAT last september with awful score. Then I learned about MCPHS and how they do not require PCAT. My GPA is around 3.7, no pharmacy experience, but looking forward into having one soon. Should I even get my hopes up for MCPHS considering I have no BS degree? I know that they do not require it, but most of the thread that I have read said that most students accepted have one. (I have an associates though, if that helps 🙂)

Thanks!

Go ahead 😉 with ur gpa, I know u will get their interview

Thanks!! For everyone that has been accepted so far, what are you thinking for housing??

On-campus housing is expensive! Not to mention, no meal plan either. Hmmmm, looks like I'll be looking for a roommate or two. How about you?

I'll most likely be looking into finding an apartment as well. Have either of you looked at tuition costs? It's so expensive!

Yup, over 41,000 in tuition and fees per year. Ouch...

It is expensive! I am undecided about the housing situation. Have you guys found anything around the area for a pretty good price?

I had my interview on November 19th and got wait-listed!!! 😡

I see a lot of listings on craigslist (some with utilities included). I might just go that route. Maybe, wait until July and then, contact some of the ppl who have rooms for rent.

hows everyone doing i got accepted on oct 12 just wondering if anyone wants to roomate it up because nuhh uhhh am i living on campus we ll be broke as it is -_-

I'll interview this Thursday--December 1st. Anyone wants to carpool?? Like, rent a cab and split the cost... Let me know if you're interested. We can meet up at Logan airport and start from there.

Interviewed on 11/19
Accepted on 11/21

Once you got invitation for interview, do you need to call them within a period of time. For example, if you do not call back within two weeks, you will lose your eligibility.

No one is interested?? 😀

You might be the only one interviewing that day. Who knows? When I went, it was just me. I rented a car, stayed overnight in Worcester, interviewed, and drove back to Logan International.

I don't think you'll lose eligibility. It's best to call them as soon as possible (I called immediately after receiving the letter) to schedule an interview as interviews are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. I guess if they've reached their interview quota and you decide to call in to schedule an interview, you'd be SOL. Best to call Kate at admissions and be certain though.

Interviewed on Nov. 19 and accepted on Nov. 21! Man they are quick!

Anyone know of any good apartments that are dog friendly?

I received an invitation to interview on the 22nd, and am interviewing on December 19th. Any words of wisdom for the interview? What kind of questions do I need to look forward to 🙂

I received my acceptance letter in the mail today...envelope was pretty large. Letter was dated 1 day after my interview, so they accepted me pretty quickly.

I felt no emotion whatsoever after getting the letter of acceptance. Maybe I am not human?

Just relax and be yourself. Seriously, didn't even feel like an interview at all. I would go as far as to say that the interview was fun. I got to tour the school, talk to a few students, talk about myself a lot, etc. Awesome school, tough curriculum, etc.

The best advice I could give you is to be yourself, really. Interview doesn't really feel like an interview at all, to be honest.

I'm in complete agreement. My interview was extremely relaxed and felt much more like a conversation than a Q&A setting. My advice is similar, be yourself and have questions! Good luck and don't stress too much!

You sure you don't want to go into dentistry?

lol...100% sure.

It's just thinking about the thousands and thousands of dollars I will be in debt...120k+.

Oh lawd.

Good. I know how you feel. I'm not sure I'll be able to get approved for some loans due to bad credit. I've been playing phone tag with Lynn, the financial aid counselor, to see how to pay for tuition and living expenses. I've only been able to get his answering machine.

The Peter Pan bus will connect in South Station, so it will take 2-2.5 hours in total. Is there any way (besides taxi) to go straight from Logan to Worcester??

Hi everyone,

I am new to this thread and just scheduled an interview on December 15th. I am planning on flying to Boston from LA but not sure how to get to Worcester from there. Does anyone have any advice? Also where to stay and such because I kind of want to explore Boston after my interview. Any word of wisdom is greatly appreciated!

Here:

1) Take the commuter rail from South Station. From Logan, take the Silver Line Bus (~2-3 bucks? About a 10-15 minute trip) to South Station. From South Station, you can take the commuter rail to Worcester (just read the signs and make sure you get a ticket for the right one!); I believe that's about $8. The downside, is this method will probably take the longest amount of time. The commuter rail (depending on what time of day you get there and if it's running with less stops or if it's stopping at every stop) can take almost up to two hours. But if you have the time like I did, a nice opportunity to catch up on some reading 🙂

2) The Peter Pan Bus. I took this on the way back from Worcester to Logan, and I think it goes directly to Logan but I can't remember for sure. If not it'll take you to South Station. I think it was about 10-15 dollars, but faster (maybe an hour trip, barring traffic) and a little more comfortable. You can also take this from Logan to Worcester as well I believe.

Do note that both of these options stop in Union Station in Worcester. Depending on where you're staying, it might not be that close and you might have to take a taxi to your hotel. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and it was probably about a mile from Union Station and the campus. Walking distance if you choose, but a short taxi ride as well.
I'll let you know if there's any other type of transportation after my interview tomorrow.
